EMMETT

The house shook from her agonizing cries. I clench my jaw and squeeze my eyes shut.

"They are doing everything they can to help her." Rosalie reassures rubbing my arm.

"They shouldn't have even let Bella show up in the first place." I growl.

"I know, but we can't change the past." She says softly. Elena cries out again and I fall back onto the couch before burying my head in my hands. Rosalie soothingly rubs my back.

ELENA

My chest heaves as pain radiates through my entire body. I whimper and Esme gives me a look of pity. I scream and writhe as the pain intensifies.

"Hold her still!" Carlisle orders. Alice and Esme manage to hold me down but I still cry out. "She's getting worse." He shakes his head.

"I told you bringing Bella here was a bad idea." Alice says glaring at Carlisle. "You should probably listen to the girl who can see the future."

"It's been over fifty years, she should've been able to handle it." He states.

"Well clearly she couldn't!" Alice raises her voice. I squeeze my eyes shut and try to shut out the pain. Alice gently tucks my hair behind my ear. "I tried telling them Elena." She whispers.

"She needs to feed." Esme states. "Human blood, try to get just a little of Bella's and mix it with something else."

"I'll see what I can get." Carlisle leaves and I try to relax.

"Get Emmett." I whisper. Emse nods and Alice stays by my side. She pushes hair away from my face and gives me a sad smile.

"We're going to fix this, I promise." Alice says quietly. I manage to nod. I let my eyes close and my muscles relax, besides the burning in my throat. Alice massages my temples trying to help me relax more. The door opens and she helps me sit up. "I'll let you two be." She leaves as Emmett moves to my side.

"You're getting worse." He whispers.

"I know." I nod taking his hand in mind.

"Why are just letting it happen?" He sighs.

"Let me tell you a story, little brother."

"Elena-"

"Shh, listen." I cut him off. "Once upon a time, there was a girl who lived in a small town in southern Montana. She worked day in and day out but always stayed up with the task at hand. She was relatively young, but not small. One day, while her and her brother were out, she met a boy about her age. They instantly fell in love. After being together for a few months he asked her something." I swallow back tears. "He said, “you know, Elena, even though the world is falling apart around you, you still manage to see the good in everything.” He was right. I just went with the flow back then. I kept calm and if something went wrong, I'd fix it. John was always amazed by the fact that I could stay positive in any situation. What he didn't know was he was what made everything better."
