I run to the mall as fast as my feet will carry me. Once I'm at the front door I feel like a just ran for three miles. Oh wait, I did! I walk inside to find Krystal sitting on a bench, texting. Her red hair is in a ponytail and she is wearing a blue sweater with black leggings and Uggs. I walk up to her.
"Hey Krystal!" I say. She looks up from her phone.
"Hi Liv!" She smiles at me. We spend our evening shopping at Pacsun, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Brandy Melville and H&M. At the end of the night we are each carrying a number of shopping bags. I tell her all about my date with Jack, too. When I'm done recounting the date she squeals in delight.
"Oh, Liv! I'm so happy for you two! Jolivia for life" she pushes me gently on the shoulder. I give her a side-hug.
"Thanks so much Krys" I smile. We say goodbye to each other and I walk home, happy.
When I walk through the front door to my house, I hear yelling and screaming. I peek into the kitchen and see my mom and dad having a fight. Not wanting them to notice me, I tiptoe upstairs. Cameron's door is open just enough to see inside. He is sitting on his bed, sobbing. I push the door open and walk inside. He looks up at me. I sit down beside him and wrap my arms around him.
"Cameron, it's okay. It's natural for parents to fight once in a while" I feel him shake.
"No, not like this. I always hear banging and crying. You're always out and you never hear it" he sobs into my shoulder. I suddenly feel really guilty. He was right. I was always out with friends and never there for him.
"I'm sorry" I whisper. It only takes a few minutes for him to calm down. I slip out of his room and into mine. I wash my face, get into my pajamas and go to sleep.
The next morning when I wake up I see rain splattered on my window. Sighing, I get up and shower. Dressed in my Nirvana tank top with a red and black flannel over top, dark jeans, and Doc Martens I go downstairs into the kitchen. Cautiously checking to make sure there are no arguments going on I slip inside, make myself an orange and pineapple smoothie and sit down at the counter. When I'm done, I put my cup in the sink and go back upstairs to my room to do my makeup. I use a mascara that I bought the night before (with Krystal), eyeliner, blush and lipgloss. I put my hair into a messy fishtail braid that falls to my ribs. Before I leave for school I pull on my favorite army-green colored jacket, grab an umbrella, and say goodbye to Cameron.
I quickly walk to Anna's house, not wanting to be in the rain for too long. Standing under the overhang, I wait for her to come outside. At 8:15 (15 minutes until the first bell) I text her to see where she is. A few minutes later she emerges from her house, covering her face with her hand.
"Anna, what the hell are you doing?" I ask her. She slowly takes her hand away, revealing a big red splotch on her face. I laugh, even though I know it's wrong.
"Anna, it's just a pimple!" I tell her. She frowns.
"Seriously Liv. Just a pimple? It's like the Mount Everest of pimples!" She exclaims. Giggling, we hurry off to school.
As soon as we walk through the doors, everyone looks at us. Actually, everyone looks at me. Through the wave of whispers in the crowd I hear certain words, like Jack, girlfriend, couple, and dating. Ignoring what people have to say, Anna and I walk towards Mrs. Prior's classroom. As we approach the door to the room, I see Jack leaning against the wall, texting. I touch Anna lightly on the shoulder. She looks at Jack, nods at me and walks inside. I lean on the wall and face Jack.
"Hey" I say softly. He looks up from his phone and smiles at me.
"Hi" he kisses me on the cheek. I giggle.
