The first step ☝

We stopped at Elena's place and got inside I wanted to tell them myself and thats what I did. I told them everything, I told everyone about eveything.

"So Klaus and I hid this truth. Until today. Now you all know." I finshed.

All my girls did exactly opposite to what I thought. They pulled me into a group hug. I thought that they will be angry. But afterall they were my friends.

Days passed and soon weeks and months, everyone accepted me, all of them but one thing remained the way it was from the beginning "Damon Salvatore". He never talked me properly, he ignored me most of the time. And if by some reason he was forced to talk he would say something inappropriate at the end of every conversation. But I never said anthing, I kept quiet.

Sheriff Forbes reported few animal attacks in the town. We made sure that it was not one of us. Stefan suspected one of the tomb vampire, so we checked. Caroline, Stefan and Elena went at the grill. They asked me, Damon and Bonnie to stay outside just in case he tried to escape. Everything was planned.

Stefan's Text Message :
Its not him who is attacking people its someone else. Send Bonnie inside, her dad wants to see her and you and Damon head home. we'll leave soon.

I read the message out loud. Bonnie headed inside. Well Damon, not someone I would like to go home with. He was walking right by my side not even saying a word. So I tried to make a conversation.
"So Damon.....Did Ric tell about Jeremy's job at the grill?"
"Yes."

"Yes" seriously just "yes". I'm trying to make some kind of conversation here and this man has just one word to say. He is digusting.

I did'nt say anything further. Ofcourse he was not interested and why on earth I would want to talk to him. But trust me today I was furious. I didn't say a word to him ever since I've been here. To all his rude statements I never replied but tonight I was sure if he says some crap I'm gonna land a punch on his face. With all these thoughts crossing my mind I was finally in front of my place.

"Good night." I said out of courtesy.
"You know what Kate. You think everyone likes you but No you're wrong not everyone." He frowned.
The water was above its level.
"Dude.... I don't know why you hate me but you are an ass. All this time i've been here I tried.. I tried to be nice with you even if you were acting like a jerk. But No if someone treats you good you don't like it. If you want me to hate you. Fine I'll hate you.
But from now on Don't you ever say something inappropriate to me or I'll rip you apart." I shouted walked inside and shut the door on his face.

I went upstairs and watched him leave and suddenly tears started rolling down my cheeks. Why I'm upset? He always a jerk with me and he is bad. I laid down in my bed and burried my face in the pillow. I don't know why but I was crying.

Next Morning

I was still upset so I decided to call Elena to arrange for some girls time. Everyone agreed and after ages all of us were together and having "only girls time".
But its our life we never get to live in peace. Stefan called Elena to stay inside the house and soon he and Damon were there.
"Hey. Come on in." I invited them in.
"Its Katherine. She was the one who was attacking the town folks." Stefan said.
"And she will strike again." Damon quoted.
Elena was terrified she was to be kept safe. Stefan took Elena with him and dropped her home and soon everyone left. I was sitting in my living room. It was 7, I was watching tv... I received a message from Elena to talk to Damon if I see him she said he was not doing okay because of Katherine.

"Whoa! Who is ringing the bell" I woke up by the sound of my door bell and then checked the time. It was 11. I slept for like 4 hours, God! I rushed to the door to open it. Damon was standing on my front porch.
"Can I come inside?" He asked.
I stepped aside from the door so that he can enter.
He came inside and walked to my living room. I closed the door and followed him.
"Can I get you something to eat?" I asked him.
"You have something?"
"I have pizza. Do you want it?"
"Yeah, it'll be great"
"Okay" I said and left for the kitchen. I put the pizza in the microwave then served it in two plates. I brought it to the living room.
I sat on the other chair. He sat there, ate pizza, watched tv, but he was quiet.
"So how are you so quiet? Last thing I know Damon Salvatore babble rude things all the time but he is never quiet. You can answer it if you want otherwise stay quiet." I said being precautive.
He smiled looking at me.
"Its nothing, its just nobody wants me, i'm never the right guy. I'm always the "other choice"." He said in a depressing tone.
His voice was heavy and he was very upset. His eyes were filled with regret, his face was dull.
"Hey. Are you okay?" I asked him.
"No." He said and the started looking towards the floor.
I got up and then sat next to him.
"Damon.. whats it? Tell me."
" Katherine never loved me. All this time I been in love with her. 145 years i waited for her and today she comes back and says it was always Stefan. I can't do it anymore, I'm going to end it"
"Hey.. hey listen to me." I cupped his face with my hands and then continued. "What do you mean end it? She never deserved you okay. And you don't think like that." He faced down again. I pulled him to face me
" Look at me..... look at me....You'll not do anything stupid. You understand."
"I don't have anyone."
"You have me."
The moment those words escaped my mouth without me even realising it, His icy blue eyes locked mine. After few seconds I pulled my eyes away.

"I should probably go." Damon said clearing his throat.
"Yeah. And don't do anything stupid okay."
"Mmm hmm." He said and then left.
I closed the door behind me and sat on the couch.
I never felt this way... not with anyone and specially not Damon. C'mon he is Damon Salvatore I hated him a night ago and suddenly he is giving me all these butterflies in my stomach.

God, I'm going crazy.
