The child grew up in that lowly orphanage with no one to care for her except the girl who had arrived at the orphanage the very same way eight years before. The girl was Carina and she cared for the infant as though the infant was her own kin. The two became inseparable. The pair did everything together. At night they looked to the stars, by day they watched time go by. Soon they were masters of astronomy and horology. Unfortunately though, they often got into a lot of trouble for studying extra subjects. The orphans were not allowed the luxuries of pens, pencils and paper. They were only allowed to use them in class. The two girls often slipped bits of stationary into their jean pockets, so that they could use them in their studies. They were often caught, but Carina mostly managed to put all of the blame onto herself to protect Caia from the cruel beatings and punishments. Caia and Carina were connected through a bond of understanding, love and trust. No one would ever be able to break that.
