XII. The other Jess
Jess: That was fast.
She was choking on her laugher now.
Jess’: Shut up. The story’s not done yet. We spent time together after. I was her bestfriend. After a year. She was more than that for me. She knew. I told her. She didn’t mind. So, I waited.
Jess: For a year? You’re completely busted right from the start!
Jess’: I didn’t mind. I was in love. Have you ever been in love? Huh? Guess you’re not. I told you you wouldn’t understand.
Jess: I do. I’m not single like you. I know what it feels to be really in love. And I’m not just fantasizing around it like you do.
That was harsh. I barely know this guy. But I let those words out. I don’t know where it came from.
He was silent.
Jess: Sorry. I didn’t mean that.
Jess’: It’s okay. I’m sorry. You didn’t have to put up with my story anyway.
He stood up. He’s leaving.
