Maya's POV

"You're an asshole, you know that?"

"Baby, come back! It was a moment of weakness!" Jake reached out for me as I stepped off the doorstep but I pulled away as his hand skimmed my wrist, and even though I didn't want to look at him I forced myself to.

"A moment of weakness? Are you fucking kidding me?!" I laughed as tears began to roll down my cheeks. "You've slept with her five times and I don't even wanna know how many other girls you've been with."

"It's not that many," He said as if it was no big deal.

I stared at him for a minute with tears still welling up in my eyes until the moment the anger exploded from me. "It doesn't matter how many! The point is you cheated on me multiple times with multiple girls, and you even slept with that slut on our anniversary!" My voice was so loud that my throat began to hurt and I was sure people on the streets and maybe even in their houses heard me and were wondering what was going on. A couple were already staring but I didn't care.

"Don't call Nessa that." He was quick to defend her but he immediately bit his lip.

"Nessa? You can't be serious." I laughed and shook my head. "It's clear where your priorities lie." I glanced down at his trousers before turning away and making my way down the driveway towards my car.

"Maya, please. It didn't mean anything!" Jake paused and I could tell he was thinking hard for something to say. "I love you! Just give me another chance..."

Gritting my teeth, I whipped around and cut him off. "You love me? You love me? If you loved me, you wouldn't have cheated on me. If you loved me, you wouldn't have hurt me. If you loved me, you wouldn't lie to me, just like you are right now." I sniffed and wiped my eyes. "I've given you too many chances... you've hurt me too much... I can't take any more." My chest felt tight even after I took a deep breath. "Goodbye, Jake."

My hands were shaking as I turned back around. He called after me but I didn't listen to a word he said, I just got into my car and drove away with waterfalls in my eyes and a pain in my chest.

That was three years ago.
