A/N I have a new cover! btw the cover art is not mine. so credit to the artist. I also decided to make this chapter longer. Comment if you would rather more the updates more constant, but short chapters, or a longer wait time, but bigger chapters.

I sprinted back to my quarters opened the door and saw Duskall sitting on the table eating pizza in a short red dress that was embellished with black lace. I wondered why she didn't sit on the chairs. Maybe it's a Klingon custom or something, but I highly doubt it.

"You're late..." she said blankly. Late for what?

"Late? Late for what? And why are you dressed so nicely? I thought you only wore sweatpants and baggy T-shirts when you got back from work." I was obviously very confused.

She rolled her eyes and said " We're late for the party we were invited to; and by the way I can wear whatever I want whenever I want." How have I not heard about this party?

"I was not implying that I did not like your dress, I was simply stating that it is not like you to dress like that. I actually quite like the dress. Oh by the way I wasn't invited to a party."

"Well now you are!!!" she grabbed me by the arm and pushed me into my bedroom and yelled "Get changed quick!" I looked through my closet and chose a nice long, purple ombre dress. It went beautifully with my chocolate brown eyes and silky ink black hair.

After a few minutes of getting changed I walked out of my room and asked "How do I look?" while spinning around once so she could see the back off the dress.

"You know what you look fine, Ruth." she said sarcastically "Now can we go already?"

I sighed. "Okay then lets go."

We walked slowly down the corridor and I asked " I never got to know why this party is being held. Do you mind telling me why?"

She sighed and said "Yes, I do mind telling why." she smirked a little bit. I looked up at the taller woman and gave her a 'Im done with you being like this' look for a second before she said "Its a welcoming party for all the new recruits."

"I still find it strange that I did not hear about this, I mean I am a new recruit..." I said in a sad voice. I reflected on the situation. Maybe they forgot about me like everybody does. I bet Chekov already forgot my name. I can still hear his Russian voice so clearly. So I guess you could say his voice was a russian through my head. I love it when my pun making self kicks in.

"Oh Ruth, I love it when you sound depressed, but don't fret. No-one forgot about you. The invitation was a pass it on kinda' deal. That means one person knew about it, so they told their friends, and their friend told their friends; its an endless cycle." This is probably the nicest she has ever done since I met her. I most likely would not want to be friends with a person that punched me in the face, I still regret that. But each to their own I guess.

"Wait, does that mean I'm your friend? You did say that your friends told you and you told me, so according to the cycle... we're friends!" She looked shook.

"I mean I wouldn't say we're friends yet." a short pause followed the sentence. You could tell she was thinking of the appropriate word. "I guess you could say we're ... acquaintances."

I shrugged and said "I'll take what I can get."

It was quite noisy with loud music playing and many people talking. I was guessing the theme of the party was blast from the past or something for the music that was playing was a Taylor Swift song, that particular singer was popular in the 21st century. I looked around and saw that there were many people around me; an estimate of 56 to around 72. Obviously not all new recruits. I realized that I had paid so much attention to my surroundings that I lost Duskall. Well so much for sticking together. I decided to walk around for a while as I looked for her. I felt my shoulder bump into someone else.
