It was all black, there was no sky and no earth, there were no walls and no limits. Just black. Sudden movements stirred and a soft purr filled the empty space all around me. As I began to drift away two eyes opened, I could see the whole world in them, misty colours of blue and green swirled around both dark pupils. When the two pools began to open for a second time, they spread light into the emptiness and shot stars into the sky. I could see now, that these eyes to a lion. A mighty king, though he wasn't intimidating, he had a soft expression upon his teddy-like face. He took in a breath, the air fell silent around me as he turned his head to the starlight sky.
"Come, sit." The words rolled from his tongue effortlessly, I sat on the untouched grass, reminding me of the many times we had met here.
"It's begun."
"The war?" I questioned briskly
"In this world and yours." The thought still scared me, it had been months since the first word of it. The uncertain voice on the radio made us all aware that it was the beginning of the end.
"The time has come child, this world lays upon your shoulders."
"I'm not ready."
"None of us are. Have faith, be faithful and you will find a way." I became dizzy as the lion blinked, and the light faded away In the distance a voice called.
"Goodbye my child."
"Goodbye father."——————————————————————
I awoke, a cold liquid coated my forehead, above me loomed Mrs Macready, who had a look of displeasure upon her face and a empty jug of cold water in her left hand.
"Oh Lillith, I've been trying to wake you for the last half hour. For goodness sake! I thought you'd died!" She was a blabbering mess. I rolled out of bed, touching the frozen floorboards with my Bare feet. The cold had never affected me, even as an infant. As I walked on my tiptoes, Macready was running around frantically opening every drawer she could find in hope of getting me some clothes for the day. But the dream from my slumber had filled my mind, I had been seeing that lion since I was five years old. Ever since I'd come to this house. I snapped out of my thoughts, thinking about our poor old housekeeper being so flustered.
"Macready, What's the rush?"
Her face pulled another spiteful look.
"I've got to pick up those darn children from the darn station"
her accent was thick, and heavy in the mornings, I was able to convince her to go and calm herself down and make her way to the station. After all, I could dress myself, I wore a grey striped dress with a thick brown belt. I paired it with a sky blue cardigan some tights and black worn pumps.I left my grand bedroom and made my way to join my grandfather, Digory Kirke, at the bottom of the staircase, beside the grand front door. My feet tapped along the dark wooden boards as I descended from the staircase. When I met the solid floorboards I stood directly next to him, I held onto his arm tightly and rested my head on his shoulder, already feeling exhausted.
"it may be an opportunity for you to get to know more people Lilli." I smiled at the mere thought of it.
"Of course" I replied plainly. I guess you could say I wasn't good friends with many people, maybe two or three. It would be nice to have people who could possibly be around the same age as me or even younger. I had only just turned 15. You see, around ten years ago, when I was not even five years old my mother passed away and my father sent me to live with my grandfather, I have no real memory of them, just stories.-
Peters POV
We had been traveling for a while now, Lucy was still clinging to my arm, Susan was still reading her book and Edmund was still scowling.
The train pulled up to a wooden platform. It wasn't much of a station, only a bench and telephone sat waiting for use. As we all stepped off of the train onto the sterdy wooden platform the good country air surrounded us. It made a nice change to the usual, city air. The four of us sprinted down some poorly made steps and to the side of a dirt track. The sound of an engine could be heard from a a few metres away. A black car passed us but didn't stop.
"The professor knew we were coming." susan remarked
-
Lilli's POVI was cut off from my thoughts by the thundering of hooves and the sound of a horses cart being scraped along the stony path. The noise stopped, and the pitter-patter of feet filled the silence. The large wooden door swung open to reveal the face of a flustered Macready with four figures behind her.
"Quickly now!" She shrieked "We haven't got all day!" The children lined up in a row in front of us. I continued to look down as an awkward silence filled the air. "Ahem" someone coughed encouraging conversation. "Hello, I'm Peter, Peter Pevensie" a tall boy reached his hand out to greet me. I smiled sweetly at his offer and shook it.
"I'm Lillith Kirke, But you can call me Lilli" he smiled. Now I got a look at the eldest Pevensie I could see all his features perfectly. The boy had sandy blonde hair and sea blue eyes. After a moment, we stepped back from each other,
"These are my sisters Susan and Lucy."
In my line of vision proudly stood, a beautiful tall dark haired girl. Next to her a much smaller girl, with freckles that coated her light skin she shared eye contact with me, then let out a light giggle.
"...and that's our brother Edmund" he huffed. He didn't even smile. But I did, and when he finally acknowledged this, he smiled back. He like his sister had dark raven coloured hair and as I learnt, in the coming days, he didn't smile much.I was rudely interuppted from my intruductions, yet again, by the lovely Macready.
"Right then, we haven't got all day! Come along Children, I'll show you to your rooms!" she screeched in her usual dismay. The pevensie siblings began to walk across the hall and to the staircase I had previously been down, I followed. I was behind Edmund and next to Peter.
"The professor is unaccustomed to having children in his house, except for Lillith of course, and as such, there are a few rules we need to follow." I rolled my eyes, i usually tend to hear these rules at least five times a day.
"There will be no shoutin', no runnin', no improper use of the dumbwaiter."
Susan reached her grubby fingers out towards an expensive statue. Before I could stop her, Macready confronted her. "NO! touching of the historical artifacts" Susan pulled her hand away immediately, and we all began to snigger at the embarrasing situation. When we continued to walk i turned my head to her.
"Are you okay? you seem a little spooked."
I ended my question towards Susan with a smile. Macready resumed her boring tour
"and above all, there shall be no disturbing' of the Professor." As the others walked past the office door, Lucy stopped, to see a Shadow moving inside the room. I stood waiting for her. She looked up with a shocked expression.
"Come on, we'll catch up with the others" she nodded and took my hand whilst I led her through the house to her siblings.
