//Just a little note: in this piece it skips forward in time so Anna is 25 and Charlie is just turning 20//

'Some say watching somebody you love leave is the most painful thing you can go through, but then again, most people don't even know the half of what they consider 'pain'. I'm not talking about physical pain, I'm talking about the pain where you witness a somebody break right in front of you and you can't do a damn thing to stop it, you're just forced to watch until they can't take it anymore and just seem to disappear. I know by the time you read this I'll be gone, or maybe you won't ever read this and it'll just be lost in time, I'll be just another unpleasant memory, I brought you pain when I was supposed to give you love. And for that, I am truly sorry, I just want you both to know, I love you both of you deeply. - sincerely, Betty L. Ross.'

The words repeated in Anna's head like a mantra, the sound becoming more distant each time it played. She looked down at the aged paper with almost tear filled eyes.

"I know in the note there's no mention of a state or city, so what if she's still in Oklahoma. I know it's a bit of a stretch but if she left don't you think she'd at least leave us a hint?" Charlie sighed and sat at the small hotel table, looking at Anna with an annoyed expression. "Hey, whoo hoo, are you even listening to me?!"

Almost immediately Anna snapped out of her daze and stood up, she set the paper back down on the bed and walked into the small kitchen to grab a beer. "Yeah I heard you. I say we just don't look for her, if she wanted to be found she would've included a location at least, mom isn't like that." She walked to Charlie with two cans in her hand.

"I know, I'm stupid, I shouldn't be reading too much into this anyways." She looked up at Anna through her glasses and took the beer in her hand, "Thanks." She murmured and opened it up.

"Hey, listen to me, I'm sure everything will be fine, okay? Besides, you're the smartest person I know." Anna smiled and took a seat in the chair across from her sister.

Charlie rolled her eyes and took a long swig of the alcohol, "To be fair you don't know many people."

Anna did her signature bitch face and flipped Charlie the bird. "Fuck you, go choke on a dick." She grumbled and stood up, groaning as she stretched her sore limbs. "I'm gonna go get a drink, wanna come?"

Charlie scoffed and opened up her purple laptop. "Nah, I think I'm going to do actual work and look for something to solve while you get hammered." She rolled her eyes, not bothering to look up as her sister left the small hotel room.

____________at the bar______________

Anna walked in with her jacket wrapped around her waist, short jean shorts and a black anarchist shirt to match. She made her way past the men who were trying too hard to get her attention.

The bartender was a brunette with matching eyes and, she had a black shirt on along with skinny jeans. "Hey there, how can I help you this fine evening?" She asked, jumping slightly. Of course Anna noticed the woman's rack and smiled sweetly.

"Well," Anna paused to glance at her name tag, "Cindy, I'll have your finest rum and maybe your number." Anna winked and bit her plump bottom lip, hoping for a yes. Of course it'd be a one time lay, that's just how she was.

Cindy giggled and looked Anna up and down. "Hmm, I dunno, you are a cutie, I'd like to get to know you better." She winked and turned around to retrieve the alcohol along with a large glass cup.

"C'mon, babe, I'll make it worth your wild." Anna chuckled and fixed her dirty blonde hair.

"I guess I /could/ end my shift early." Cindy smiled and passed Anna the glass filled with dark rum, "maybe after you're done here." She smiled and leaned over the counter.
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?" She half pouted at the woman behind the counter, a smirk spreading across her lips when Cindy nodded. "great!" Anna finished off her alcohol quickly before both women were walking to Anna's car.
