I grew up in the country. Married a wonderful woman whose name is Beulah. Beulah sounds like an old fashioned country name hug?
Well she has been there for me through thick and thin.
You see, when I was a child, my father, mother, and their friends grew up drinking moon shine. Homemade alcohol.
Moonshine was originally a slang term for high proof distilled spirits. Observes one could transport much more value on corn if it was first converted to whiskey.
Moonshine is a strong drink. Of course, I wouldn't understand as a child what it consists of but all I saw was family, friends and my parents drinking what they called Moonshine.
Whether you choose to drink wine, beer, or spirits they all contain alcohol. Get the facts about alcohols ingredients and the processes involved in it's production.
Drinking alcohol in excess can put you at risk of a number of short and long term health harms.
I didn't know this as a child. All I know is that this is where I had gotten my beginning taste of alcohol.
Daddy had let me taste it at a very young age. I don't think that he had thought that he was doing anything wrong at that time of his life.
They were still living in a world where slavery wasn't long over and they were living in the country, working hard in the fields.
They picked tobacco, grew corn, and raised some of their own animals for food. Such as chicken, and hog mainly. But planting a garden was something that was done as well to eat.
There wasn't any grocery stores within a 3 mile radius, so planting and growing your own stuff just made much sense back in the day.
Momma and daddy worked very hard in the fields to provide a decent meal for me to eat. I had plenty of people around me that would play with me and teach me as a child how to pick cotton and help with the chores that we had with living in the country.
All I knew as a child was to work hard, and eat your food. Work some more and occasionally I would get some moonshine to taste.
Not a good thing to drink, but what did I know as a child growing up. If it was good enough for them to taste and drink, then it was good enough for me at times to taste.
