Though Ash had travelled for a while, he still hadn't won a league yet. But that didn't matter, because he would keep trying harder with the help from his friends.

Ash Ketchum started his journey in the Kanto Region, meeting Gym Leaders Misty and Brock who travelled with them until they parted ways.

Then in Hoenn, Brock returned as Ash's traveling companion along with two new friends. May and Max were siblings and the kids of a Gym Leader in Hoenn. May became an exceptional Pokémon coordinator, even though she hated Pokémon at the start of her journey.

In Sinnoh, Brock and Ash travelled with another aspiring coordinator named Dawn. Dawn didn't want to live in her Top Coordinator mother's shadow, and strived to become an even better coordinator than she was.

In Unova, Ash travelled without Brock for the first time in a while. He met Iris, a Gym Leader in training and a dragon-type enthusiast. He also travelled with Cilan, a former Gym Leader and Pokémon Connoisseur.

Kalos was where Ash reached the highest position in the League. He travelled with Clemont and Bonnie, who were siblings and the former being a Gym Leader. Ash also travelled with Serena, the girl whom he met during camp back in Kanto. Serena was first set to become a Ryhorn Racer but eventually became a Pokémon Performer.

But his best friend of all was his Pikachu. Thought the electric mouse Pokémon didn't like Ash at first, after a fateful encounter with some angry Spearow and Misty's bike. The two have been the best of friends ever since, and they couldn't be more alike.

Ash had also battled evil organizations in each region, but he knows without his friends he wouldn't have survived.

Cerulean - A Pokemon Story (excerpt):

"It was fun, the three of us traveling together."

Misty sighed as she tried to get the tangles out of her vibrant orange hair. She grabbed her hair and started tying it to the side when she realized that today wasn't the day to look like she normally would. It was a special occasion - the Cerulean City Gym was opening again and Misty was doing everything from planning to being the host and getting herself ready.

"Yeah, but we'll be able to see everyone again." May walked up to Misty, who let her hair down loose and sighed.

"No, I don't think so." Misty shook her head sadly. "Ash's probably off in another region and Brock's busy with his new profession."

"Let's not focus on who's not coming." May said, holding Misty's hand and pulling her up. "We're going to make you look striking, whether you like it or not. I've invited a performer named Serena I just met, Dawn, and Dawn's friend Iris. And get this - they've all travelled with Ash!"

Misty smiled, it was good to think about their traveling days. She still thought that Ash wouldn't like Kanto after all the regions he's been to and so he would never come back to visit.

No, Ash is your friend. He's probably busy, I mean he isn't not picking up your calls on purpose. Misty thought.

"Striking..." Misty nodded. "Do your magic, I'm no good at any of this girly stuff."

May laughed and took out a bag filled with makeup and other accessories.

"Oh, you'll only know if you try!" May opened the bag and started taking out objects that seemed vaguely familiar to Misty - foundation, eye liner, mascara and lipstick, all she had seen her sisters use. But there was so many more objects that she didn't know about.

"Alright, surprise me!" Misty closed her eyes. May grinned and started preparing for her "masterpiece", as she called it.

"Can I look yet?"

"No, you just asked a few seconds ago."

"Please?"

"Sorry."

Misty struggled to be patient while May stared to apply a foreign substance that she simply called "eye-shadow" onto her upper and lower eyelids.

"And we're done!"

Misty breathed out in relief. She knew she would hate makeup for her entire life, but when Misty walked up to the mirror she couldn't help but love May's work.

"It's beautiful." Misty sighed. "Though I don't know how you possibly managed to make the most most beautiful girl in the world even prettier."

Misty tried on a sea-green dress from her sister's closest that was long and flowing, but complained that she would trip at least five times a minute. May picked out a shorter and bluer dress, but Misty complained that the lace was too uncomfortable.

Misty finally came out wearing an outfit that would describe striking when her makeup was added to it. A short blue and green dress with a black overcoat on top,

"You look... what's the word?" May asked, and the two laughed. Suddenly, a noise cane from outside of Misty's room. It sounded like wind chimes, which was the noise the doorbell made in the Cerulean Gym. May ran over to the entrance and opened the door. A girl with honey-blonde hair that reached her shoulders, and bright blue eyes that complimented her makeup, walked into the gym and hugged May.

"Serena! I love the red dress!" May gushed. Serena thanked May, and asked where Misty was.

"I'm here, nice to meet you!" Misty stepped out. Serena waved her hand.

"You too! You must be Misty - I love the gym." Serena and Misty shook hands, by May sighed in disappointment.

"You guys should be less formal! We're going to spend sometime with each other anyways." May pulled the two into a hug. "See? That's how you become friends."

Misty and Serena both turned red in embarrassment, which only satisfied May even more.

"Serena came early to help with the food. She's got a hand with performing and baking." May told Misty.

"Sounds great. I'll help set up the decorations and the chairs. Are you and May performing today?" Misty asked, and Serena nodded.

"Yeah, along with Dawn. I've still yet to meet Iris though, she'll be helping you host if I'm right." Serena said. "I'll see you two later then?"

"Sounds great!" Misty and May said in unison.
