The news came quietly.
Xavier was dead, and Adelaide had retaken the throne.
The demon gave an empty apology before he left Yuna alone, under no obligation to stay at her side. The young witch held her head in her hands, sobbing. They'd be here any minute, she knew.
The ones who would hunt her son and smash him against the ground, because he was now a threat, another player in the twisted, endless game that was the quest for Hell's throne.
"Are you sure?" The hunter asked her as she pressed the baby boy into his arms.
"Just go, take him far from here, please," Yuna begged tearfully. She passed a sack of what money she could scrounge into his hands as well, as payment. "Don't come back."
He nodded and rode deep into the gnarled woods taking Xavier's son with him, far away.
