After mass, we went to our homeroom. We would have about half an hour to an hour of free time before we went outside for our field day. Our field day consisted of water games, tug of war, and Popsicles. After the small wait, all of the classes that had school that day went out. First grade to seventh were outside and I just stood around and looked at our somewhat small school. I dont know how to describe what I saw. People having fun and not having to worry about anything for the next few hours.
As my class walked to the field and playground that was across the street from the middle school, I looked around to see if there were any of the graduating class that would be enjoying the day with us, remembering from past years that some did do just that. By the time I had spotted a few of the new high schoolers, my steam of Lilly had blown off, but as soon as I saw her, I got fired right up again. She smiled, while I glared back. Realizing that I wasnt going to let anything from the past three months off of my mind today, she looked away.
The first game that my class got to do was one of my favorites. In the past four years of being at Saint Joseph's, I had learned to love this game. The class was split into two groups and lined up in those two groups. The two groups were two teams competing to get water into a cup. The person at the front of the line would get a sponge soaked with water and would pass it to the person behind them according to what the seventh graders in charge said. If they said pass by passing to the side, you would turn left or right and hand the sponge to the person behind you. You could pass it under you, to the side, or above you head. Once the sponge gets to the end of the line, the last person squeezes the water from the sponge into the cup and race to the front of the line to soak itin water once more and start the cycle once more. My entire class loved to pass it over our heads, because then a bunch of water would fall and we'd get wet while most of the time, it was hot outside.
The next game was tug of war and by that time I had forgotten all about Lilly and I would for the rest of the day. Tug of war after getting wet was horrible. Whether you admitted it or not, you hated having those two games next to each other. The seventh graders would split us into teams in different ways, girls versus boys( which was hilarious, because our class only had 7 boys against 16 girls), line us up and have us count and all odds on one team and even in another and many stupid ways. They would have us do exercises such as situps or push ups or running to the fence and back before starting tug of war.
There were a few more games, but I spare going into detail about them, mainly because thyre uninteresting and I kind of forgot them.
The good thing about the games were that they were a good distraction from remembering the fact that Lilly was still on my school's property. By the time the whole field day event was over, Lilly mustve been gone, because I didnt see her.
