I wish learning was easier.

If I could read all the books in a library

In adayaweekamonthIwould.

I would devour all that knowledge,

Empower my perception of this world by the hour

Until nothing was left but the exp a n d i n g o f m y m i n d.

Like a flower showing its petals for the first time

Like a cat that has just learned how to climb

Like a bird beating its wingsI'm.

Struggling to fly.

Struggling to soar.

Do you "see me running through that open door" no.

All I have are these beat up pop lyrics

And these high school half truths

Smeared by celebrity culture and society's promises.

'You can be anything you want to be', they said.

'You can be an astronaut, a rock-star, a poet', they said.

They smiled.

They didn't know, that the warranty we came with was void.

They didn't know,

That they were being toyed with

When they said we'd be employed with

The biggest companies out there.

So when they raised us,

They filled us,

With passion and ambition,

But a shark can't swim without fins

A bird can't fly without wings

A young adult trying to find a rewarding career can't soar without financial stability in the economy.

We've been lied to all of our lives.

And now we're paying the price.

We are, Generation Y.
