After I got out of the shower, I walk into my room, immediately going straight towards my vanity. I brush my long, chocolate, curly brown hair with my favorite purple brush. I think about what I have ahead of me tomorrow. Pretty much the boring old school and my after school writing club. I guess it is just the usual, typical day. For right now, I just need some complete rest.

I look in the mirror and see dark bags underneath my eyes. I completely lie to my parents that I get enough sleep throughout the night. My room is always freezing, my bed never warms me up, and worst of all it smells like someone has died in here. Usually, it only does this at night, even closing the windows don't work all the time.

My phone begins to buzz, almost falling off the vanity. I grab it right before it does and look at the text. It read, "Hey, Kara. Just wondering if you want to sneak out tonight." I didn't reply back only because they know my standards. I do not sneak out, especially at night like this. I live in a huge city where there are muggers, rapists, and the infamous murderers that lurk in the darkness waiting for their bait to come.

When I take another quick look into the mirror, I notice something behind my nightstand. It is a dark shadow that moves back and forth like a curtain would with a small amount of wind. When I look back at it, it isn't there anymore. I brush my hair with my fingers for one last time then go straight to my dresser to pull out my pajamas which consists of a tube top and a pair of pants. Even though it gets freezing in this room at night, I still refuse to wear anything with sleeves, it bothers my underarms.

I get under the covers, covering half of my face as I turn off the light. I shut my eyes. Right after I shut my eyes, I start to hear the raging wind. I peek out with one eye to look at the window. I knew that I shut it, so I close my eyes once more. The wind grows a little stronger, making my blanket fly off of my body. I start to feel myself shiver. The cold is chapping my lips so I lean over to grab my chapstick. When I did, an enormous force pulls on my arm, sending me off the bed.

I hit the floor hard. I got up slowly, reaching for my aching back and looking around to see what could have done that. I imagine that my little brother is hiding underneath my bed trying to prank me.

I call out to him, "Very funny, Rion."

I didn't receive a single answer. I did hear deep breathing under my mattress. My heart starts to beat faster. As I bend down to look under, I try to turn on my lamp but it just wouldn't turn on. I try multiple of times but it wouldn't work. I begin to get nervous, taking in deep breaths to try and calm myself down. I call to my little brother again, "Rion?"

When I threw my blanket on top of my bed to look under, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I stand up straight, about to go walk over to my main light switch by my door. I can feel something wrap around my ankles. All of a sudden, I am being pulled down onto the floor, being dragged under my bed. I scream out. Right when I get halfway under, my parents burst through the door. The light made something evaporate and retreat quickly.

My mother has that look of fear across her face, "Honey, what's wrong?"

I got up, looking back down, "I...I felt something grab me. It was dragging me under the bed."

My father covers Rion's ears who is hiding behind his leg, "Kara, don't scare your little brother like that, it isn't funny. Now go back to bed." He turns away along with Rion. Before my mother shuts the door, she gives me a weary look. After she shuts the door, I race up to my switch to turn it on immediately.

I check under my bed like I am five years old but there is nothing underneath it. It is just my imagination. I try telling myself that over and over again. I thought that maybe today I will just sleep with the light on, just in case.

I get back into bed. I couldn't shut my eyes because my body is still shaken up about what just happened. I look over to the window, my curtains sitting perfectly still in front of them as a gust of wind bursts across me once more. This time, I get out of my blanket and scoot back all the towards my head board. I grab one of my pillows and lean it up against my body.

I feel something wrap around me feet once again. I try to kick at it to make it go away but it is able to pull at it again. I climb back up to my headboard, hoping that this is just me messing with myself. It has to be, right?

My mirror stands in front of me. I see something by my nightstand once again. This time, it took more of a shape. I hesitate as I turn to my nightstand. There is nothing there. I look over at my windows to see the shadow of something large. It didn't even look human with tubes coming from the head connecting to his hands.

I shut my eyes, whispering to myself, "This is all just a dream, this is all just a dream. One...TWo...Three..." I take a look and nearly jump a million miles high as the dark shadow stands before me, causing my lights to switch off, permanently. The shadow's breath is heavy. I can hear of some type of liquid oozing out of its skin like when someone has a massive wound, bleeding out. Its mouth wide as it grew closer to me, I hide my face halfway into my blanket. Its razor sharp teeth drooling with the red liquid of its last meal. I want to scream but I didn't have any noise coming out of me.

I divert my eyes away from it hoping that it will go away. I notice my door being blocked off by thick, green vines, as well as any other exit.

I turn back to the thing but it disappears. I look around so that way I didn't lose it. If I lost it, I would be completely vulnerable to it, even though I kind of am now. I slide underneath my covers, completely petrified. I stay completely still, laying my body flat on my mattress. I shut my eyes again.

I can feel something crawl up in the blanket with me, something sharp. It scrapes along my leg, leaving long, deep cuts. I bite my lip, trying not to scream for the monster to hear me. Even though it most likely found me, I still believe that it can sense movement.

The nails crawl up further near my stomach. A sudden jab came through. It made me jerk up, opening my mouth as if I am able to scream. I hold it in and lay back down. The loud footsteps of the monster grew stronger, ending right beside my bedside. I can feel my breathing growing stronger and stronger.

All of a sudden, my blanket gets blown off by the wind and the monster looks into my eyes. The monster's eyes are dark shadows, as if he has no real eyeballs to see through. The tubes I saw was not this monster because this monster has smooth skin everywhere. The skin is stretched out, leaving it to tear. The mouth of the monster opens wide with the sharp teeth peaking out. I turn my head, this is my last breath. I take a deep breath as it sends his teeth straight towards me but all of a sudden my reflexes takes over. I roll over off of the bed. Of course, I fell on my face but I quickly recover, I stand up slowly to face this monster.

The monster swerves around my bed heading towards me with his arms swarming around, reaching out for me. His mouth began to drool out blood as he inches closer to me. I have to stop backing up because I have reached the window. I unlock the latches and climb out. The monster stands there, watching me. I scoot back, realizing my foot sliding off the edge. I look down at the ten foot drop from the condo building to the ground. I know I wouldn't make it if I jump. Either way I die.

I stand at the very edge of the ledge while the monster watches me. I spread my arms wide, falling backwards. As I am falling, I realize that this won't be a sufferable, as long as my neck snaps in half first. I look up to the dark skies, stars aligned perfectly with the full moon. That is the last thing I remember as I hit the solid ground.

Whether it was a good choice that I jumped or a bad one, I am in peace now.
