Nicole's POV

I was still in shock. I just..couldn't believe it. My own mother, slapped me. Over bad grades, college, and dumb shit like that. I just stared at her, grabbed my jacket, and ran out. After a few minutes of running, I started to slow down and walk. I had no idea where I was going, but I didn't care. I sighed and leaned against a random wall, still trying to comprehend what just happened. I grabbed a cigarette out of my pocket and lit it, breathing it in, and then blowing out. It was just me, alone with my thoughts, until I saw someone else come round the corner and lean on the wall across the road. Funnily enough, he also had a cigarette in his mouth. Maybe he needed to go out to calm down as well too? Whatever, I wouldn't be surprised. I squinted at the man again, wondering why the hell he looked so damn familiar. I squinted again, and gasped in recognition. It was Kevin! Jesus! What was he doing out here? I continued to stare at him with interest, wondering why he was out here. Didn't he live with his girlfriend, Catherine or something on the other side of town? Well, at least that's what he told us the other day. By us, I mean August, Penny, and me. Anyways, what was he doing in this part of town? HERE nonetheless. I watched him in confusion, occasionally taking a puff from my cigarette. All of a sudden, I saw him drop his cigarette on the ground, and him shaking like a leaf. I tilted my head in confusion, and saw what seemed to be tears streaming down his face at an alarming rate. Aw shit, Kevin was crying. Why though? What happened? As I pondered in even more confusion than before, I saw him walk into the street. What the hell was that idiot doing? Did he see me or something and wanted to greet me? That didn't seem to be the case, as when he walked in the road, he seemed to have a glassy stare in his eyes, like he couldn't comprehend what was going on, and he didn't care anymore. I snuffed out my cigarette, as he made it to the middle of the road and just stood there. Ok, now I was even more confused and worried than before. I stared at him, and heard a loud honk. I looked the other way, and saw I truck barreling right towards him! I glanced at Kevin again, and thought I saw him smile for a moment, tears streaming down his face, shaking like a leaf. Right before the truck barreled into him, I ran and pushed Kevin out of the way, knocking him and myself over to the other sidewalk into the alleyway. I rolled off of him, breathing heavy. I stood up and stared at him. I was about to scream at him for his utter stupidity, when I took a good look at him. Kevin. The funny, British, asshole we knew and loved, curled up into a ball, and crying. I stuck out my hand to him to help him up, giving a soft smile. He stared at me, looking both scared and confused. He then softened a little and grabbed my hand. He got up, tears still streaming down his face. I looked at him, and wondered,
"What the hell drove him to this? Why Kevin of all people?"
