The school bell rang dismissing all the students from their classes and allowing them to go home to enjoy their long awaited weekend. They all headed to the front of the school to wait for their parents to pick them up, and within seconds hundreds of students filled the area. Marcus was waiting under one of the schools oak trees to protect his pale skin from the sun. He wasn't waiting for his parent to pick him up, but his friend. His best friend.
As he waited dozens of groups walked passed him, they were all discussing where they should go and what they should do. They all had such interesting and busy lives. Marcus began to think to himself, Today I'm just going over to Ray's house because he told me he needed help with something, and that's basically it. I got no other plans besides that. No wait mom wants me to-
Honk Honk Honk!!!
A cars loud honking brought him out of his thoughts, He looked to the road in front of him and there he was, probably the handsomest person Marcus had ever seen. He was tall, had a nice even tan throughout his body, and had a firm built. This was Marcus's best friend, or to put it more accurately, this was Marcus's crush. He had a completely one sided love for his friend Ray.
'" Hey Marcus! What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get in. I need your help and I gotta be somewhere later." Ray yelled from his Toyota Prius.
He honked the car again.
"I...I...I'm coming"
Marcus ran over to the car and got in as fast as he could. He buckled in his seat belt and began to speak.
"I'm so sorry, I kind of dazed out over there"
"Yeah Yeah, stop lying to me"
"I'm not lying to you! I just randomly spaced out while waiting, cause you were taking too long." Marcus said confused on why Ray thought he was lying
Ray glanced over at him and smiled, "Nope I saw what you were doing. You were checking out one of the girls who walked passed you"
"N...N...No I wasn't!!! None of the girls at school even interest me" Marcus's face was heating up and the back of his neck began to sweat.
Ray laughed "Yeah right, your face was super red back there and it is now, and you can't say I'm imaging it, your skin is white, it's so easy to tell when your blushing"
I'm such an idiot, I need to be more aware of the expressions I do when I stare at him, or else he's gonna notice. Calm down and just play it off, or change the topic to something else that's not me.
"Aaagh! I hate you so much" Marcus yelled placing his hands over his face to hide his embarrassment.
"Yeah yeah I know that already"
Ok ok now just calm down and change the subject he thought.
He slowly lowered his hands back down, his cheeks were no longer a burning red and he kept a straight face. " Whatever, so what do you need my help for?"
Ray got quiet for a second before he spoke."Ok so I know we made a promise when we were little that we would tell eachother everything, but I couldn't tell you anything until I knew where it was all gonna go."
They had never really kept any secrets from each other, and instead of being mad about it he was actually more excited to know what was so special that Ray had to keep it a secret. The suspense got to Marcus. He was nearly jumping in his seat.
"What is it? Hurry up I wanna know"
"Don't get mad because i didn't tell you the moment it happened." Ray paused, hesitating. "I got a girlfriend...well I've been having a girlfriend, we've been going out for almost 8 months, I know i should have told you earlier, but I just wanted to see if this relationship with her would -..."
