Summer Words- A True Story

prologue

Ashton Gainer walked into the school with a lunch bag clutched in her tiny fingers.

The 5 year old walked down a long hallway that had doors for then walls then doors then walls again.

She slid down the wall and grabbed a strawberry shortcake book from the old beat up purple basket.

Her small fingers opened the book as she crossed her short legs over eachother.

She began attempting to read the words in the book but mainly looking at the pictures.

She felt a tap on her shoulder as she snapped her head around to see a girl with long dark almost black hair Smileing at her.

"hi. Can I read twhat book after you?" The girl said.

Ashton nodded slightly and handed the girl the book.
The girl took the book and looked back up at Ashton.

"Thank You" She said smiling brightly.

Ashton nodded and smiled back. "Want to be friends?" She asked hoping the other girl would say yes.

The girl looked up and smiled bigger. "Yeah! I'm Delilah".

Ashton looked at her. "Im Ashton".

They hugged eachother and both started reading the book together.

That was the start of a adventure filled life the girls had ahead of them.
