Anna's P.O.V.

I was rummaging in my locker for a granola bar or something around seventh hour. I finally found one and Tyler came up and snatched it from my grasp.

"Hey! That's mine!" I said and tried to get it back.

"Stop your whining and go cut yourself emo!" He said and kept it from my reach. I kicked him where the sun don't shine and grabbed the granola bar from him when he cringed. He pushed me into my locker and locked it. Great.

"Hey! Let me out! Let me out!" I screamed. The cramped space reminded me of all the hiding I did from my dad. And that he always found me. Dear god he was coming for me. He was going to come and hurt me. Maybe if I stay really still and really quiet he won't find me. Please don't find me. Just stay still, just stay still.

Zack's P.O.V.

Seventh hour I fell asleep in the middle of our math lesson. This was the last week of school did she really have to tell us about math? When I woke up it was for the bell. I walked to eighth hour but Amy Lee found me before I could make it.

"What do you want?" I grumbled. She was never up to anything good.

"I just wanted to know if you wanted to come have a smoke with me, maybe a little more, I promise the emo won't find out this time." She said. I rolled my eyes and started walking. She caught my arm.

"Zack baby, please, I promise I'll leave you alone after this. It's just one cigarette. You don't even have to smoke one." She said.

"Promise, you'll leave me alone?" I asked. She crossed a finger over her heart.

"Cross my heart and hope to die." She said. I sighed and followed her. She started smoking and I coughed when the smoke blew in my face. She rolled her eyes.

"For a boy that smells like cigarette smoke you have a lack of standing for it." She said.

"My dad smokes and how do you know what I smell like?" I asked. She smiled.

"I have my ways." She put the cigarette she was smoking back in her mouth.

"We should go." I said. She threw her cigarette on the ground.

"Aren't you going to make sure it goes out?" I asked. She rolled her eyes.

"It'll blow out. Damn, now I'm glad I didn't get you before the emo, you're such a stick in the mud."

"First of all, she's not an emo. Second of all, I grew up with someone who smokes so I know what's safe." I said. She rolled her eyes again and we headed for class. Damn, I hated this chick.

Anna's P.O.V.

I kept myself as still as possible. I didn't want him to find me. When Daddy found me he'd be angry, and when he was angry I got hurt. I wiped my clammy hands on my leggings and tried not to breathe to heavily. I'd been in here for at least a whole class period and was really trying not to panic.

I sniffed and realized something was wrong. Why was I smelling smoke? The fire alarm went off and my eyes widened. The school was on fire.
