"Are you sure you don't want a sip?" My best friend, Candace asked while waving a cup full of calories.
My stomach lurched at the the thought of putting that in my body. "Yes, Candace, I'm sure. I already had a slushie today, so I don't feel like it right now! Okay?" I smiled and pushed her hand away gently.
"Okayyy, whatever you say Ms. Healthy! These things aren't that bad..." she laughed as we walked towards her car. It was easy for her to say. Candace was my dream body. With long, tanned, skinny legs, a flat stomach, a tiny frame, and perfect skin. She had nothing to worry about when it came to food. She had long black hair, and big beautiful eyes with long flirty eyelashes. She was literally perfect.
I hopped into the passengers seat, and shut the door beside me. Candace drove a convertible Mini Cooper, but her family was made of money so Candace basically got anything she wanted. She had a giant house, with a huge pool and, like, a million floaties. Once again, things I only dreamt of having.
Once Candace pulled out, we headed towards her place. "So? Are you coming with me to Carl's party tonight?" She asked while she drove away from the ice cream shop.
Carl. Right. I forgot to mention. That would be Candace's Huge crush. He was one of the popular guys at school, who had super rich parents and always had huge parties at his mansion. He was Filipino, and had short wavy black hair that was always gelled perfectly. He was tall, very handsome, and was a pretty nice guy. Especially to Candace, who always talked about how he would brush his hand against hers, or smile at her from across the room. I was happy for her!
"Oh shoot, is that tonight? I totally forgot!" I smacked my forehead and checked my phone to see the time. "It's 2:30, what time does the party start?"
"I'm pretty sure he said 9:00, so we still have lots of time to get ready. Want to go to the mall? I can buy you a new outfit just for this party!" She offered and turned to me.
"But you do that all the time! I always feel so bad!" I chuckled and put my phone back into my pocket.
"But they are always worth it, aren't they?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me and we both laughed. "Come on, we are doing it." She stated and turned into the right hand turning lane to go to the mall.
Once we got to the mall we went from store to store, but couldn't find anything. But finally, Candace came running up to me with a white tank top that went way down to my cleavage, and I winced. But she also carried a short-ish navy skirt that I though was absolutely beautiful.
Candace hurried me into a changing room, and I laughed at her excitement. "Okay, okay! I'll try them on!"
Once in the changing room, I pulled off my shirt and hesitantly pulled on the one Candace gave me. I turned to look in the mirror and sighed. I hated the way it hugged my skin and showed all my flaws. I felt vulnerable in it and I quickly threw it off. I breathed heavily and wiped my eyes quickly to stop them from watering.
I then pulled on the skirt and smiled a little at my reflection. I wished it were longer, just to cover up my thighs, but I knew My best friend wouldn't let me go if I didn't wear that skirt.
"This one didn't fit right," I told Candace about the shirt. She nodded knowingly and went to put it away. While I waited for her, a white long sleeved blouse caught my eyes and I hurried over to it. I pulled it off the rack and smiled down at it. I knew I'd love it, so I chose not to try it on. It was also getting closer to 5:30, and my mom wanted me home by 6:00 anyways.
