He had made it through the night. Rachel stepped out of the elevator, and calmly walked into the room. Luke’s head shot over to the door as soon as she walked through. His heart raced at the unexpected visit. No words were exchanged as he watched her walk around to the side of his bed.

He gazes at her strangely, his expression blank. Rachel ignores his staring. She feels a little weird, because he won't get his eyes off of her. She meets his gaze once she finishes checking his vitals. Luke's blue eyes search her entire face, only to land right back on her blue eyes.

“Hello, Mr. Hemmings. My name is Marie, and I'm going to be your nurse while you stay here. You’re at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, California.” She pulls out her flashlight, and instructs him to follow the light. He does as he's told, still slightly confused why he's here. Luke takes a moment to think about the events that led up to this moment.

After a few seconds she hummed, writing something down on the clipboard.

“Why am I here?” He spoke, still unclear why he's at the hospital. Rachel noticed how scratchy Luke's voice is. It sounded as if he was without water for two days. She grabs a small cup of water, handing it to him. He drank it without hesitation.

She then took a look at the papers in her hands. Rachel hides her surprise when she sees what wounds he had when he arrived with.

“You’ve got a pretty deep stab wound to the abdomen, another wound below your collarbone, a broken nose and a GSW to the right shoulder.

“You lost a lot of blood,” she told him, hiding her surprise.

“Two questions, what is a ‘GSW,’ and is there anything else?” He asks, scratching his arm.

Rachel clicks her pen shut, placing it in her pocket. She clears her throat, “a ‘GSW’ is a gunshot wound. There's another thing, but it's pretty terrifying.”

“Nothing you say is gonna scare me.” She raises an eyebrow.

“You almost died. But with the help of other nurses and doctors, we started your heart, and got you breathing again.”

A smirk grew onto his face. “So you saved me?” Rachel rolls her eyes, pulling the clipboard closer to her body.

“As I mentioned before, a team of nurses and doctors, including myself, saved you,” she says flatly.

“Which one were you?”

“I was and am currently your nurse.” She moves his hospital gown to check the wounds on his collarbone, then his shoulder.

“Oh, that’s what you are?” Luke gives her a sly smile, licking his bottom lip. He shrugs casually. “I thought you were an angel sent from Heaven.” He smirked when he saw a slight blush creep up on her cheeks, as she changed his bandages. Once finished, she stood and looked at him.

Rachel rolls her blue eyes, brushing off her blush as nothing. Which it is nothing. She doesn't feel any attraction towards this criminal.

“What exactly happened to you out there?” She asks, standing back. Luke gave a small shrug as a snippet of what happened came back to him.

--

Jade washes her hands in the sink. The television is on in her patient's room. He's currently sleeping, but Jade bustles quietly around the room. She picks up some papers from the floor, tidy ups the counter, and wipes down the counter. She does this all before her patient wakes up.

While an episode of SpongeBob plays behind her, she takes a look at all of vitals. There isn't much she can do with him sleeping.

Suddenly, there was a small knock on the door. Jade turns around to see doctor Manket standing there. She looks back at her patient before walking to doctor Manket.

She crosses her arms, leaning against the frame. “Did you need something, sir?” She asks in a quiet voice.

“I just came to check on how you were doing, and of course the patient.” He drifts his eyes from Jade to the sleeping patient. “How is he?”

She shrugs. “After the surgery he's been pretty stable. He's mostly been sleeping, but I'm sure he'll wake up soon. If doesn't, then we'll go from there.”

Doctor Manket nods, squinting his eyes, and pursing his lips. He pats Jade's shoulder then leaves the room.

Jade shakes her head, turning around to see her patient awake.

--

“Ash, what are you doing!” Michael yelled, catching his breath. The four guys had finished running after Ashton. They had no idea why he decided to start running away from the club. But they followed.

“Guys, there something wrong. Didn't you feel it? Someone was watching us. I could feel it,” Ashton said. He stood in front of the other three guys.

Ashton knew they would follow him. That was his plan from the start. Luke and Calum look at each other confused. They both know when Ashton has a ‘gut feeling’ about something he's usually right.

“Shit,” he says.

--

He met her gaze as she waited for a reply.

“Fighting,” he told her simply. He didn’t know if she's trustworthy with the full details. He doesn't know her personally. Despite him not fully remembering everything, he knows enough to make her run to the cops.

“Right. Well since you're awake, we're going to do a PET scan. We're going to make sure there isn't any swelling, or anything wrong with your brain.” He nodded, not really listening.

“Other than that you’re healing quite nicely and should, hopefully, be out of here in the next few days if there's nothing wrong.”

“Thanks,” he mumbled. He wondered where Calum was, if he was okay, and he wondered about Ashton and Michael. He was about to ask her if she knew anything, but a couple police officers came in. Following them was a doctor and his team.

“Thanks for your help Marie. We’ll take him down to the examination room for his PET scan.” Rachel nods her head, taking one last glance at Luke.

“Also, I checked in on Sophie and she just finished. So, go home and get some sleep. We’ll call if we need you.”

“Thanks Doctor Manket.” With no other words spoken or glances made, Rachel left. She could feel Luke’s eyes watch her back.

Jade stood at the door, taking a glance back at her patient. Rachel waited to the side of the hall for Jade.

“See you later, Mr. Hood.” Jade caught up with Rachel, and left to go home.
