PROLOGUE

"C'mon Charlie, don't be such a chicken!" Liam shouted, grabbing my hand and chuckling. I rolled my eyes and kissed his lips softly, grabbing the glass that was waiting for me. I threw it back, quickly swallowing the burning liquid.

"That's my girl." He smiled, and urged me to drink more.

"I try." I smirked. "When are we going to head out to my place?" The loud music had given me a headache, and I wasn't very thrilled with the smell of vomit and sweat filling my nostrils.

"As soon as I do this trade," His face contorted and he looked like he had accidentally said too much. I knew that Liam dealt drugs, that was evident the day we started dating, but he still seemed to try and hide it. I rolled my eyes again and pushed him towards the door.

"Hurry, I'll be in the car." I said quickly, kissing his cheek before I headed out to the car. I closed my eye lids, the constant pounding in my head matching the pulsing beats of the music. I didn't realize how late it had gotten until I heard the car door slam. I jumped, squealing softly, and stared at Liam. He slid the key into the ignition and started the car, forgetting his seat belt.

"Liam, seat belt." I stubbornly stated, a yawn interrupting my attempt at being stern.

"I'm in a hurry," He stated, "plus your house is less than a mile from here." The car started forward before I could protest, so I shut my mouth. I suddenly reached forward, clicking on the stereo. A popular band greeted my ears. I screamed the lyrics, the volume so high I didn't care, and looked over at Liam.

A huge grin shaped his lips and he pounded on the steering wheel, singing out the lyrics as well. That was the thing with him, he didn't judge that I was a horrible singer, but embraced it and sang along, and it was yet another reason I loved him.

We were driving too fast, but I was a little drunk and in complete bliss, so it didn't matter. I shut my eyes and did the little screamo part, laughing when I sounded like a high bear that lost their bear cub. Liam laughed harder, shutting his eyes for a fraction of a second. That's all it took.

"Liam look out!" I screamed. The headlights in front of us were so bright I squinted my eyes. I heard it before it happened. The sickening crunch of metal on metal, the loud bang of glass shattering, and the constant screaming that seemed to be coming from no where, was deafening.

The last thing I remembered before closing my eyes and submitting to darkness was that it almost seemed beautiful, the dull headlights reflecting on every tiny shard in the air.
