The smell of pancakes wafted through my house and I opened my eyes to the sun coming in through my windows. I was alone in my bed, meaning my brothers were already up and moving about. I turned my head to the right and glanced at the green numbers on my digital clock reading 9:03. I let out a content sigh as I clamored out of bed and headed out towards the kitchen.

My dad had the radio playing as he sang and flipped pancakes while my mum stood off to the other side of the kitchen taking care of the bacon and eggs, both wearing their PJ's. I grinned at them as I made my way to the coffee maker. Before I could actually pour myself a cup, my dad stuck his hand out in front of it.

"Eh, coffee stuns your growth." he said. He'd always been against me drinking coffee while my mum could care less.

"Dad, I'm eighteen years old." I whined. He only grinned at me and passed me the kettle of which I presumed held tea. I scowled.

"The boys?" I asked, sipping on my mug of tea. If my dad could do one thing it was make a good cuppa.

"Boardwalk. Collin is working on something for the school newspaper and George got a new coloring book." Mum said. I nodded and gave them a wave before heading out our back door and onto the boardwalk. I walked along until the little part right before the beach where there was a grill and padded seats.

"Good morning, boys." I greeted them as I took a seat. Collin looked up and gave me a nod and George sat down his coloring book to climb onto my lap.

"It's a beautiful day, fancy a swim later?" I asked them. George nodded eagerly as he played with my hair.

"The pool needs to be cleaned." Collin said, his eyes fixed on the screen of his lap top. He was just the distance that he could still pick up wifi.

"I meant in the beach water, goof." I replied.

"Yeah, goof." George added on. Collin grinned and looked over at us poking his tongue out at George. He only responded with an even more disturbing face.

"What time is the show tonight, Georgie?" I asked him, moving his attention away from Collin and the gross face he'd pulled.

"Six-thirty sharp, and don't be late." he said, giving me a silly grin. I saluted him with a "Yes, sir," that made him laugh.

"Kids, breakfast!" mum's voice sounded from down the boardwalk, and we all stood.

"Race ya." I smirked, and then we all dashed for the door, Collin and I letting George win, just like always. It felt nice to be home again.

Once we all had our plates piled high, we sat around the table and started on our food. It was like I had never left.

At six twenty-nine p.m. Collin, Dad, and I sat in the third row of seats in the auditorium of George's primary school. Mum was sat in the front with a video camera to film it. George was dressed as the month March in a costume my mum made. It was his special education class that was putting on the play and they're just learned all the days of the week and months of the year. He had a speaking part where he told about St. Patrick's Day and gave a fact about the month. He'd refused to practice in front of me, claiming it to be a surprise. I was excited to see my baby brother up on a stage to say the least. I know it sounds silly, but it's the small things that make him as happy as they do that make me happy.

The lights dimmed and a lady who introduced herself as Mrs. Shuster welcomed us.

"This is our little production of the weeks and months, we hope you enjoy watching it as much as our kids did putting it on." she grinned then held her hand up to introduce the kids. "May I present to you the calender!"
