Summer break is always fun. Going out with friends, catching up with family, all around New York City is the place to be in the summer....
If your popular.
Being me, 5'2, black short hair to my shoulders, dark eyes and pale skin, you can already tell I'm not going to be a popular mess with bouncing blond locks and pink stained lips. Instead I keep my distance, although I am certainly not some creepo who hides in the shadows all day and skips classes. No I am more of a straight A's student. I have a library pass, and since I use it so often I get a 10% discount taken off the books I buy. My best Friend has got to be Mars, he definitely knows he way to a girls heart. But I'm not sure it counts as much as he is a cat. But I love him.Back to the topic, now from my personality type you just read, you can tell I haven't done much with my first week of summer break. Mainly books, tea, my PJ's and Mars. Now I think about it I haven't gone outside either, I have mostly stayed in my mums apartment, and I like it that way. The sun glistens through the glass panels and lands on my toes, while the shade covers my eyes so they don't squint while I read, which makes me uncomfortable. My tea never leaves my side table and is covered in a mug warmer that my mother got me a week prier. Things couldn't get more perfect but they do. Mars at the end of the sofa in a deep sleep just makes the lazy days even more memorable. Mars curls his body up and tucks his head in so the sun rays hit his back. The sun always blondes up his hair too which makes him look even more handsome. So this is how my break is going to pan out? Well I don't mind it really.

"Melanie I wish you would get your nose out of those books and enjoy your summer break" my mother said washing the plates from the breakfast earlier that morning.
"Mama, this is how I enjoy my summer break" I said not taking my eyes of the book in front of me, my eyes scanned the words taking in everything until I reached the word... Love. Then I realised it, I don't have love. In all my books my characters have at least one love interest. Makes sense since romances are my favourite. But I don't. I don't have any contact with any boys. Not even my father. Then I snapped into reality, and I realised I had missed the lecture my mother just said to me.
"Hmm?" I said, looking over the side of the couch. My mother glared at me.
"Really Melanie? My lord you are terrible" she said with a smirk, walking out of the kitchen. "I'm getting dressed for work!" She cried back from her room. A few minutes past, but turned out to be an hour of me wondering why I don't have love.
"I will be back by 7:30-8:00" she said softly walking toward the couch I was laying on.
"Love you" she said kissing my forehead. She rubbed my temple noticing the mark she left from her lipstick.
I flicked her away,
"I'll get it later, ok bye." I said looking out the view of our apartment.
"And?" She questioned walking toward the door.
"Oh love you too!" I cried, looking back at her and blowing a kiss. She laughed and soon was out the door. I heard the door shut and shot up from my position on the couch and ran to my laptop. I grabbed it and soon walked back. I noticed Mars was in my spot and shoved him over so he was cuddled under my arm. I oped my laptop and pinned in my password and googled:
What is love?
All it did was come up with a definition, I didn't want that so I typed up:
Why do humans love?
It still wasn't what I was looking for, only information about the human emotions so I finally punched in:
How to find love?
I read through a few of the articles and scrolled through Wikipedia. I went through some sites and eventually found a comment from a username called, Star04:
I personally think that finding love isn't as simple as smiling and trying to get to know ones other. Rather find their interest and intrigue them.
So thanks to Star04 I got the idea that if I would like to find love then I have to intrigue them. My idea of a match is someone who would not only chase after me, but when they finally catch me, still have to breath to keep running. I closed me lap top and shoved Mars a bit, I got up and walked over to my studio, pulled out some paper and started to write:
Dear stranger,
I don't know a thing about you.
-Your age
-Are you a student or worker or possibly both
-What gender you are
-What you look like
Who ever you are I am looking for love. If you are a girl, unfortunately you are not needed please put this plane back where you found it or throw it,
If you are over 21 please put this plane back where you found it or throw it, if you are younger then 16 please put this plane back or throw it,if you are not single well you get the gist. If you are neither of these... well then my name is Melanie and you can find me at the library every Saturday (Colo St) do not meet me there but write me a note and tell the librarian to deliver it to me. If you reply, thank you.
Melanie...I took the corners of the paper and folded it into a paper plane. Making sure all the corners were sharp and stood and and walked over to the warm glass window, opened it and took in a sharp breath. Letting it go I pulled my arm back and let the plane fly over the buildings of New York. Looking at is flow over the little people below, I felt Mars walk around my legs. God knows who will find it... I thought to myself.
Hello! So if you are regular then I would like to say thanks and I was wondering if I should continue with this story or "The Foaming Tides" so please choose and vote in the comments. Thanks 👍
