Part 1:

Even now, with hundreds of years of blood and tears tainting the land, the wind still whispers of a time of when the land was once pure and beautiful. So long ago that it was, that people have forgotten how it feels to really love or to feel happiness so great that your heart swells with hope.

Centuries past there was a war that broke out between all the countries. This lead to billions of casualties and heartbreak. Mankind came to a standstill. No longer did they care for one another, it only brought them more pain. Children were brought up with lives without parents love. And that spite ruled the rest of their lives. Unhappiness and despair have haunted mankind to the point that no one knew what “love” or “hope” is. No, for the longest of times the land has only felt hate and evil.

One day a goddess came down to earth in search of some kind of a way to bring back the lost emotions. All the other gods and goddesses laughed at her for her desperate attempt at rebuilding the world as it once was. The sweet feeling of love still lingered within the goddess refusing to burn out through the years. She would do anything to save mankind in spite it being a seemingly lost world.

She looked for hundreds of years, to no avail. It seemed that the whole world was ruled with hate. Feelings of love and kindness wavered in her heart. How was she alone to make things right again? Over the years the earths hate seeped into her. Where ever she went the devil grinned its insidious smile. Often her nights were spent abusing men. She no longer had love for these frail creatures. She believed that they deserved to rot in this horrible place. She became like all the others. It was easier to give into the darkness after all. Fighting it was a futile attempt that would amount  to nothing.

Over the course of time a man by the name of Creil was born in the world. He was raised like all the others: uncaring and hateful. But something was different about him. He felt as though something was missing from his life. Some emotion that he should have but cannot name. But this thought was soon forgotten in the fight for life. On his way home one day he ran into a woman named Astrid.

She was like no one else he had ever met. She had hair as white as snow and kindness no one would accept. Her love and kindness hurt her. Others took advantage of it, caused her pain, stomped on her. She was born with kindness and she cherished it even though others tortured her because of it.

Creil, from the start, shared his feelings of unhappiness and the lost feeling he could not name with her. She only smiled sadly and listened. Soon Creil felt the hole in him fill up with the emotion he craved for. He was dumbfounded by this feeling. It brought color to his world, shined light on the darkest of places. He had never experienced love before. But he knew that he would do anything to protect her, even if that meant one day giving his life for her.

The goddess had turned her back on mankind and thus did not see that love had been born in the world once again. The darkness clouded her vision, and made her unable to see that which was right in front of her eyes.

A day came that Creil’s love for Astrid was put to the test. The morning started out like any other: laughing and talking. As the day went on Astrid felt the need to go for a walk. Creil, knowing the danger of being alone, went along with her. Toward the end of their walk dark clouds passed over the destroyed city. Before they knew it people had gathered around them. Malice dripped from their words as they ganged upon the two lovers. They were going to kill Astrid for the feelings she harbored.

Creil at the last moment threw himself in front of her. Taking the blow that would have ended her own life. The people ran away as he fell to the ground.

Seeing that Creil had risked his life for her she cried out in never ending loss. She knew that his life would be coming to an end soon.

The goddess heard this cry and something quivered within her. Deciding to find the source of the unusual sound she found a dieing man in the arms of a sorrowful woman. Again the goddesses heart shuddered with the lost feeling. Suddenly anguish spread throughout the beings body. All that she had lost came back to her, she felt as though a hole had been ripped through her core. Tears burst from her eyes. She had found it again. “Love.”

When the goddess looked upon the woman’s face she found that where once was affection now harbored revenge. Knowing this feeling all to well the goddess made a grave decision. She knew how this would all end in that moment but she couldn’t think of that now. Now was what mattered.

The goddess tore out her heart and gave it to the dieing Creil. She knew she would not die but all feelings were divode of her now. With the last of her strength she whispered to Astrid, “Child, you must listen closely. I know that many hard times will follow you from this point on but you must keep your hope. I wish you the best of luck in this cruel world. Bring back the lost feelings to this race. I know you and Creil can do this.”

And the goddess decended into a deep slumber for many years to come.

Astrid was confused by the goddesses apperarance but thought nothing more of it as Creil awoke. And for many long years they lived happily.
