Chapter 1
Kale's POV
"No way! Never!" I scowled as Poppy tried to tempt me into a double-date with these hot guys she just met at the beach when she was spending her long hours sunbathing.
"Why don't you just go by yourself?" I added.
"For DOUBLE-DATE's sake lil Kale, did you ever wonder why it's called DOUBLE-DATE? Please?" Poppy tried as she smirked and wiggled her eyebrows playfully.
I knew that she first approached me because maybe she thought I would never turn her down, not that I planned about doing it though, it's just that this request is too much. Besides, I had been her beach-buddy since we got here. I had been accompanying her even in her tanning days which is not even included in my "to-do list".
"Do you seriously have to say "double-date" twice? Besides, I'll have to talk to my boyfriend in Sydney, I really miss him. I'm sorry Pop but really, No. And quit pushing. Invite Lily instead. How about Sarah? Carrie? Faye? Or anyone who doesn't have to cheat her bf." I suggested as I am the only one in the group who's into a relationship, well I meant, serious relationship. Pop mentioned before that she has a bf in Singapore but I don't think she is taking it seriously.
"And please, exclude my name in your games Pop. Hey you Kale, I can't believe you tried suggesting that, you know me." Carrie interrupted quickly when she heard her name in the list then gave me a frown.
"Oh gawd, you two are so anti-social, grow up kiddos. We're in America. It's our last month here; don't you want to get a sip of real fun?" Poppy rolled her eyes at Carrie as she entered the room and raised her right brow disappointedly at me.
Carrie and I just stared at her blankly like we didn't even hear any single word she said. There's no way that she wouldn't meet these guys. I know, it would be one good chance to enjoy the city and get some real fun, but the kind of fun which includes forget-my-bf-for-a-while just to satisfy Pop is just not fair. She knows that she couldn't invite Lily because of her daughter. Neither that goodie-good Sarah would say yes to this, same with Carrie. Faye is not a choice either, even if Poppy wanted to have fun, she would not let our baby girl get into this. She's still a baby, well that's for us. She really wanted me into this "FUN" thing, but I made up my mind already. I would never try to get myself into this game and hurt my Kent. Yes I said it, MY KENT.
"Kale, you're my first and last resort, you know that. I can't believe you'd let me down now that I need you the most." She put on that popular puppy face, which was inviting because she's doing it perfectly. But like I said, I made up my mind.
"And I can't believe either you're shoving me into this game. You know I have a bf Pop. I can bear the heat of the sun for tanning's sake but not playing this game." I explained.
"But you don't have to sleep with Andrew, it's just---"
"Pop!" I yelled not letting her finish whatever she had in mind. I heard enough. Sleep with a man, seriously? I wasn't even thinking about that, just the idea of date, or hanging out with other guy would never sound fair in my case. Did I even mention that she seemed to be enjoying my embarrassed face? Well, by the way she grinned evilly and I could vouch that 100%!
"Look, it's just a date. You know... eating, talking, laughing, those stuff... Aaaahhh! Do I have to explain it step-by-step?" She continued while flashing her beautiful eyelashes. I looked at Carrie but I could tell she didn't even care because she was too focused playing Candy Crush. That's pretty much her; no one could disturb her when she's holding her iPad. I snickered at how serious her face looked but I snapped as Pop jumped beside me making a shift on my bed.
