CHAPTER 2
Poppy's POV
I still couldn't believe them, especially Kale. I don't understand why she's taking that relationship seriously. I bet her bf is even cheating on her, not for anything but please, he's a guy.
"If there is anything you guys need, just lemme know alright! Have a good day!" I watched Lily as she welcomed the customers walking in.
"Hey you lady!" I greeted, not wasting anymore time.
"You're off right? What are you doin here? I thought you would use all your days off away from here?" Lily surprisingly asked.
"Whoa! Too much question! Not a warm response. Is that how you treat your customers? Hmmmn, deff' a poor customer service. I want to talk to your manager." I smirked then she rolled her eyes at me.
"Spill it Pop! Besides, you're not buying anything for sure, which means you're disturbing me, which means you're not a customer, which means No Warm Response. Come'on what ya got there?" I could tell by her tone that she's heating up irritably.
"Wow! What's about the rude attitude now? Let me guess, no sale yet? Hahahaha Of course, what else! Well I know how to make that mood better! Just a YES from you sweetie." She looked at me with suspicion and it stuck it my head. I tried to shake it away not bothering to burn my ass in front of her.
"Look Pop, as you can see I'm on duty so stop the winking thing coz it's freaking me out." She spoke impatiently.
"FINE! We're going on a double date! Whoop whoop!" I tried to sound excited so I could cool down the heat coming from her inside.
Lily's eyes widened in shock for 5 seconds and maybe couldn't believe what I just told her. It finally got into her head what's going on and still couldn't believe so she walked away from me without saying a word.
"Come'on Lily! It's our last month in the city, don't you want to add some fun in our not-so-fun beach days? Tick-tack, tick-tack, tick-tack!"
"Pop!!!" She yelled then quickly looked around to check if the customers heard her but we didn't actually notice that they left already. She then looked at me in dismay.
I looked away sadly, afraid to meet her eyes. Did she really have to yell? It was my first time to see her get mad that way. Her mother-like aura suddenly vanished in my head and the second voice inside me kept telling me to just leave and walk away. I couldn't do that because that would make her feel that I was hurt. I slyly beamed and raised my head to look at her.
"I guess it's a NO then. It's alright! I'll still go, I just really wanna have fun and maybe that's not what y'all want. I'll just see you at home then." I left quietly as I tried to control my tears. I couldn't explain what I felt; it's just that, I was shocked to see a different side of her tonight. I heard her calling my name but I refused to look back. I could tell from the silence inside the shop that she had not moved yet from where she stood.
I continuously walked until I reached the Convenience store. I grabbed a coffee and went directly to the beach, my so-called sanctuary. I understood why Lily acted that way; she was just pressured because of Valerie. Besides, I would act the same way if someone would disturb and spill out unnecessary things while I was in a bad mood. I definitely got it. I could be immature and carefree at most times but I was smart to understand the scenario.
"aaaahhhhh" I sighed deeply. After what happened, I was still thinking about the whole double-date thing. I really wanted to attend that, not that I had something special for him but I couldn't understand. I just wanted to hangout with him.
