"How could this happen?!" Carl shouted, tears streaming down his face.
"Carl, stop! You're gonna hurt yourself!" I screamed, wrapping my arms arm his chest and pulling him back and onto the ground.
"It's not real, Blaze. This all isn't real. You're not real. Rick's not real. That's not even his real name...I'm not Carl! You aren't even Blaze! Your name is Jessa! This isn't real!" He sobbed, trying to shake out of your grasp.
"Carl. This is real. How could you say I'm not real? After all we've been through." I whispered, causing him to become instantly still.
"I don't care if the entire universe isn't real or if it was, Carl. My love for you is real. More real than anything I've ever experienced."
He looked up and wiped his tears.
"I know." He whispered back, and for the first time, kissed me.
Long and good.
"Nothing not-real about that, hmm?" I said quietly as he broke off.
He smiled and leaned in to kiss me again, and this time, we fell among the wildflowers.
