" i don't care Black, i want him gone, and if you wont do it, ill find somebody who will."
I stared unseeing out of the penthouses window at the lights of Johannesburg. Pressing my index finger against the window pane, i swirled a quick rune. It glowed orange for a second and then it was gone. Swinging around on the balls of my feet, i looked to the source of the noise. He was a middle aged, balding man, sweating profusely in his too tight three piece suit. He looked defiantly at me, like a child who knew he wouldn't have his way, but wanted to rebel anyway. His piggy eyes set deep in his flabby ,doughy face. " so i see we might have a little bit of a misunderstanding", i said casually. Piggy looked around wildly. "'And you know how i .....dislike, misunderstandings". I observed the affect my words had on the human. His eyes bugged, looking frantically to the intercom on his desk he reached - in what he thought was an inconspicuous way- for the emergency button under his desk. Stupid human. I lazily pulled the knife in my belt out and flicked it , landing with a hollow thunk in the middle of Piggy's hand, pining it to the desk, a few droplets of scarlet oozed and ran. He let out a guttural shriek, the sound grating on my ears. Picking up the steel case, i weighed it in my hands. About 4 million. Good enough. Glancing at the close to fainting Piggy, i said in a cheery voice, " I wont be in contact, tell your wife i say hi. ". Giving him a wink, i slammed the door behind me.
Strolling to my car, swinging the case against my leg, i called out. " Rose, your husband isn't going to be happy with you". I heard running footsteps and then a breathless Mrs Piggy came into veiw, but she bore no resemblance the her husband. Leaning down to kiss the corner of her mouth, i whispered with a little smile " go home, i don't need you anymore." She looked at with doe eyes, " but, but you said you loved me! And that when your were done with the job, that we would run away together! Don't you love me Magnus!? Don't you love me!?. I hated it when people got all hysterical about such stupid things. I mean i know i was good-looking with my Blue eyes and floppy blonde hair, but seriously? Ugh, i was going to have to kill her now. Sighing i looked into her eyes , " i never did" , wrapping my hand around her neck, i squeezed and i heard the familiar crack. When i let go, she slumped onto the floor, her glassy eyes following me all the way to my car.
Unlocking the door, i slumped onto the black leather couch and kicked off my shoes. Life was tiring in this town, everything was always the same, i personally preferred China, always busy and bustling with demons to slaughter. I got bored very quickly, and when i got bored, people died . I shrugged off my jacket and dragging my feet, made my way to the kitchen. Grace,my house maid had left me supper, Sesame noodles and Sang-how steak. Waiting for it to finish its revolutions in the microwave, i ran thought a list of country's i could go and hide in next. Well, there was Vegas, that was always a safe bet, and Switzerland if i was desperate. I couldn't go back to China for a few years, not until they had forgotten about the little incident. After supper i fell asleep with my old photo album spread on my lap, photos of a black haired women with thoughtful eyes inhibited every available space. A shadow passed over the window and a dog howled in the distance. Opening my eyes i looked around sleepily. I wonder what had woken me up. Closing the photo album I stood up, pacing to the window. There was a shadow on the lawn, pushing the door open i looked out. The shadow was gone, it was probably my half asleep imagination. The smell of burning suddenly filled my nostrils, now that, that wasn't part of my imagination. Sprinting inside i saw a red glow coming from my bedroom. Someone or something had tried to kill me. I needed to leave, and now. Picking up my album and my jacket i sprinted towards the cellar door in the middle of the passage, i could feel the heat from the fire from here. Jerking the door out the way, i plunged feet first into the darkness. Whispering a ruin i saw the portal glow blue. Hesitating for a second, i heard a frustrated scream from upstairs. The sound sending a shot of fear down my spine. Taking a deep breathe ,i jumped.
