"If you stumble, make it part of the dance."
Chapter song: I Like Me Better by Lauv

"Hey Butterfly," I looked up to see Jayden standing at the doorframe of my office, staring down at me. "Have you finished yet?"
"Oh yes, sure. Just give me five minutes to pack up." I said, quickly saving the documents I had been looking at and turning off my computer. Jayden and I had fallen into a routine that was as familiar as coffee to me.
He would wake around an hour before me to hit the gym. We wouldn't cross each other's path until we got ready. Whoever reached the kitchen first had to make breakfast. And then we would leave for work together. He had insisted on carpooling because it saved energy and fuel; thus being more eco-friendly. It was among one of the stupid rules that we had set from day one. We would only see each other for meetings during the day, something which was regular. Although he would always be the one to come and fetch me when it was time to leave. The ride home would be quiet, with the only sound between us being the radio. I would then make us dinner before we will each retire to our room.
This has been happening for three weeks now. Well, except for Saturdays and Sundays since we don't work on that day. For that would be the day that I could finally sleep in. I would wake up at around ten for a late breakfast. Jayden and I would then spend the day cleaning the house. After all, he didn't like having strangers clean his dear penthouse. He insisted that -and I quote- he could not bear people that he didn't trust touching his precious collection that was worth more than their lives. That ego of his badly needed some taming.
Surprisingly, I have been hearing discreet gossips around the office about Jayden and I being a couple. Apparently, everyone has already assumed that I got this job because of my alleged affair with the boss. Thanks to that, I had now taken it upon myself to prove it to everyone that I got it because of my merits and that I deserved it.
It was thus of no surprise that I had already got many nemesis in the office alongside Sasha. There was no doubt about who was the one spreading the rumors around the workers. And I was certainly not doubtful about her capabilities. I would never put it past her to do such a thing. My only allies here were Jayden and Melanie.
Speaking of the latter, she was already in a relationship with Axel, Jayden's cousin. She was happy with him, everyone could see that. But Jayden still couldn't digest the thought of his PA and cousin being together. He would regularly try to talk his cousin out of it, but in vain.
"This relationship is ethically, socially and morally wrong," was his only excuse.
"Should I help you with dinner?" Jayden's voice brought me out of my reverie.
"Oh no, it's fine. I'll manage," I replied with a blush. Seeing Jayden's face so close to mine as I turned to reply him just made me feel shy. Despite living with him for so many days, I was still adjusting with him being near me all the time. After not meeting him for four years, I couldn't yet believe the fact that we were now living together.

It was already seven-thirty and Jayden wasn't down yet. Usually he would come down for dinner at seven o'clock sharp. I knew he was holed up in his study ever since we came back. As I went upstairs to check up on him, I started wondering why he would offer to help me with dinner of he had such important work to do.
I entered his study after my knocks and his faint come in. Jayden was standing by the glass wall with a glass half-filled with a dark amber liquid in his hand, his suit jacket tie discarded on the couch along with his tie and the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to the elbow. I stayed by the door, not moving any closer to him because of the tension that radiated from him.
