I grabbed a hold of the rough tree branch cursing myself as my foot slipped off the wet tree bark. Thankfully I catch myself and hoist myself up until I was sitting on a sturdy somewhat damp branch. I take in a deep breath and let the smells soak in.
I inhaled mother nature's beautiful concoction and smiled. The rain from the night before brought in a glorious earthy smell that I couldn't get enough of.
I leaned my head back against the tree bark and closed my eyes opening my ears to listen to mother nature's children. Hoverflies buzzed in and out the Marigold flowers pollenating them as they went. The wind whistled around the tree trunks sending chills down my spine causing me to shiver slightly. The forestry looked as if it was painted by John Constable himself every bush, every mockingbird looked as if they were carefully placed to create the perfect masterpiece.
I take a deep sigh and launch myself off the tree hearing a slight thud as my feet touch the ground. As I make my way back to the compound I can feel the crunch of fallen leaves under my boots with every step I take. The walk back wasn't short, but the walk was worth it. It felt nice to get away from everyone.
With the forest quickly losing sunlight I quickened my pace. I knew it was getting late and I didn't want anyone to worry. With a couple more excruciating twists and turn on an uneven ground I reached the compound gate. As I reached the entrance I was greeted by night patrol. "Wassup Red!" A voice called out. I looked up and saw a familiar face and replied, "Hey Robin!" He gave me a dimpled smile.
"What are you doing out so late?" Robin asked. I craned my neck up at him and frowned. He was a fucking giant compared to me! I mentally rolled my eyes, everyone was a giant compared to me.
Being five feet tall isn't what it's cracked up to be. When Robin saw me struggling to take in his huge figure he chuckled and took a step back. I took an exaggerated sigh of relief "Thank you! A second longer and I would've broke my neck."
Robin rolled his big brown eyes "Red what were you doing out so late." It was my turn to roll my eyes. "Get the stick out of your ass Robin I was walking in the forest and lost track of time." He gave me an apologetic smile "I'm sorry Red I just don't know what I would do if something happened to you."
I placed a hand over my chest to show how much his words hurt me. "Robin, I can take care of myself, but I appreciate the concern." Robin rolled his eyes and opened the gate. "Get your ass in here."
I giggled as I slipped through the entrance hearing his angry muttering fade away in the distance. The compound was like a huge gated community without all the pleasantries.
Training facilities could be found around every corner created to turn your four-year-old into the next terminator. Everyone has their own reason for staying in the compound, some are born into our clan and others lost their loved ones to the lycanthrope.
I grit my teeth together trying to distract myself from the horrible thoughts trying to invade my mind. Things around the compound changed since new hunters were coming in like wildfire, because the rouge population was growing rapidly leaving a trail of dead bodies in their wake.
Werewolves are bad, but rouges just piss me off. They're filthier then those bloody wolves. I didn't realize I was in front of my home until I ran into the front door. Hopefully no one saw me I thought as darted into my house shutting the door, removing myself from prying eyes.
I made my ascend up the stairs unhooking my bra, once I reached my room I tossed the bloody thing in the dirty clothes bin making my way to the bathroom my other clothes soon followed. Once I was fully naked I climbed into the shower, letting the scalding hot water wash away the sweat, and dirt that was clinging to my body like a toddler clutching to their mother's hand.
