Angel's POV

I lean against the castle wall and close my eyes, this day could not have gone worse. Now Autumn probably thinks I hate her, which is the farthest thing from the truth. The high vampires are in a flurry of anger at the insolence of that young pup as they called Jack before I left the council chambers. I open my eyes when I hear the titteringof Autumn's friends approaching, I feel my heartbeat pick up as I hear Sabrina's voice and I sigh. They round the corner and almost run into me. My eyes are instantly drawn to her, and it's not just because of the bright pink hair. It's always been like this between her and I. Our eyes meet, we blush and both look away biting our lips. It happens every time. Every single time.

"Hey Sabrina..." I manage.

"Oh hey Angel! How are you?" she asks looking at me through her lashes.

"I'm fine... How are you?"

"What's wrong Angel? Is there any way I can help?" Sabrina asks as her brown eyes search my face.

"Just things to do with the council, they aren't happy with Jack."

Sabrina and the other two go quiet as if they know exactly what I mean. I look at the council doors across the hall from me when they open and one of the members steps out and beckons me. I sigh then push myself off of the wall and smile slightly at Sabrina.

"Guess I have to go and deal with some things. See you later?" I mean it for the three girls but my eyes linger on Sabrina.

"S-sure.Don't overwork yourself!" Sabrina smiles before I walk to the doors and disappear into the chambers.

Hours go by and we get nowhere fast. The council wants Jack's head for what he had said to them. Nothing I say can change their minds, other than reminding them that he is now their king and they cannot legally kill him. The thought of them losing their lives seems to sober them up. By the time I'm able to escape I know that I have no chance of seeing Sabrina before the sun comes up and I scowl. I see wolves in the shadows as I walk through the castle to my rooms, a brown one keeps following me until I growl and turn around glaring at it. It just sits down on it's haunches and looks at me with its head to the side. Then all of a sudden a girl is standing in front of me. Her medium curly brown hair shining as her brown eyes sparkle and she crosses her arms over her chest.

"Where ya' goin Batty?" she smiles.

"To bed is that a bad thing?"

"No you weren't, you were going to go see Autumn and Sabrina."

"Can I go past you or not Tina? I have to talk to Autumn before I go to bed." I roll my eyes growing more impatient.

She steps aside gesturing for me to go past her. I nod then go past and head to Autumn's room. I pause outside the door, listening. I hear the girls squeal laughing and I smile then knock. Autumn answers the door, her hair tied back in a bun and her eyes bright with laughter as she's wearing sweat-pants and an overly large shirt. I frown at the shirt before she gives me a hug and I feel just how big she actually is already and my eyes widen, of course she notices as she pulls away. She just smiles and lays her hand on her swollen belly.

"Yes your nephew is growing fast, he's very strong already. See?" she lifts aside her shirt slightly.

My eyes widen when I see her beautiful skin, once flawless, now patterned with bruises. Some were yellow, some were purple, and there were even black and blue ones. She looked amazingly happy and healthy though, and I know Archie wouldn't let her keep going if it was really hurting her.

"I know they aren't the prettiest, but it shows his strength. Now why don't you come in brother? Help us unpack a few things." she moves aside and gestures for me to enter her room.

"Alright, I'm really tired so I can't stay for too long." I smile stepping in.

I notice that Jack is quietly building a crib in the one corner of the room and I move over there to him. One look up close and I could see he was worried about Autumn.

"You ok Jack?" I frown as he keeps using the wrong side of the hammer.

"Huh? Oh hey Angel."

"Dude what's wrong?"

"I'm just worried about Autumn. The baby is growing faster than we thought he would. He's also very strong. Archie says he's healthy though." Jack shrugs and puts the tool down.

I sigh and sit down beside him, "Not to worry you more but the council has decided to wipe its hands of the whole issue, like originally said. I was one of the three vampires who voted against it if that makes any difference in your execution of the council."

I get up to go leave but Jack grabs my arm and pulls me around to look at him.

"I would never execute you, it would kill Autumn. You tried, the other two vampires tried, the rest failed. And for that failure they'll pay with their lives."

"What if we banish them?"

"Angel how much do you think they had to do with the whole attack thing?"

"What do you mean?"

"If I hadn't said I'd go to war with you do you really think they would have agreed to Autumn and I getting married?"

"I don't think so actually. Getting them to say yes to that was basically like pulling teeth as it was."

"Exactly, they won't accept our child as their Prince and one day King. I need to know that my son has advisors at his side he can trust to steer him in the right direction and a guard he can rely on to protect him. I want people around him that will act as his pack."

"And you want me to be one of those people?"

"Exactly, we can trust you Angel. You've only ever tried to help her out, we know you'd only ever try to help Lefu."

"Lefu?" I ask amused.

"It means Death in African. That is exactly what he is going to be to his enemies." Jack smiles showing off his canines.

"Appropriate name then." I watch Sabrina as she keeps looking back at me.

"Go see her Angel."

I smile slightly then get up and go over to her, I grab her hand then drag her out of the bedroom. We hear the rest of them hoot and holler at us but I ignore them and lead her to my room.
