Prologue
Ten years ago is when my life was changed, I don't remember much; but I do remember that day. The day I got adopted. I was playing tag with the other kids, as I do on most days when this lady walked up to me. I remember her because I've never seen anyone like her, she had straight black hair that fell down to her lower back. Rosy cheeks, a pearl white smile, and as thin as a pole. The only thing that was weird about her was her bright baby blue eyes, they seemed to look right into your soul. She wore a long black dress, and had cherry red lip gloss on. My head pounded as she walked up to me, and looked me dead in the eye "hello James Magee, I'm Miss Johnson".
I stood there speechless, she smiled her teeth shinning bright in the light "I've come to adopt you, you're..different".
"What makes me..different?" I asked curiously,
she smiled wider, "a lot of things James Magee. You see things others can't see, you can sense when something bad will happen. And you get headaches whenever we're close by".
My eyes widened, never before had anyone believed me. Everyone thought I was crazy, or that I was afraid of my own shadow but I knew something was there, following me everywhere I went. An evil presence, constantly watching me. I shivered "how...how do you know this?"
Miss Johnson just kept on smiling "you are unique James Magee, only unusual beings are able to look me in the eye without going into a trance. You'll learn of your own powers soon enough"

The Shadow
The next day was a mix of curiosity and fear of what was to come as Miss Johnson led me into the backseat of her car.
