Part One
Writing the date on my paper seemed like the most relentless work. 2:19 pm, twenty-six minutes until school ends. Every minute felt like hours, because tonight I was going to see Liam Hansen. Liam Hansen was tall, broad in the shoulders and very attractive. He had golden eyes, and shaggy auburn hair that flipped out behind his ears. His lips were slim; a pale red and his jaw looked like it had been chiseled from stone. I have known Liam for years. We were neighbors. Once we were good friends, but then he suddenly became ‘popular.’ I was left in the dust, we still talked—sometimes. Liam and I were childhood friends. Once I turned twelve I started to have feelings for him. Some days I liked him more than others. But tonight I was going to tell him how I had been feeling for the past four years. Tonight.
The bell rang. Awakening my mind from a slumber of scenarios. Playing each one over and over, trying to predict what he will say and how he will reply. Will he like me back? Has he felt the same way? Has he hidden away some undying love for me, but was waiting for me to make the first move? What happens if he doesn’t like me? I mean I wasn’t anything special. My light brown hair chopped just slightly past my shoulders, my pale complexion, and my light green eyes did nothing to set me apart in a crowd. But in just a few hours my brain would settle. Strange to think to me that by tomorrow he will know everything. Quickly, realizing everyone around me was leaving I started shuffling my papers together. As I zipped up my bag the teacher called out, “Don’t forget! Your project is due on Monday!” ‘Crap,’ I thought. ‘I still have to do that.’ I shoved it into the back of my mind. I would have to do that later. But first I was going to Mckenna’s house after school. Tonight we were going to Blake Hardy’s party. But first we were going to get ready together. I knew Blake invited Liam. That’s when I was going to tell him.
