Mumbling, I slowly open my eyes and glance out the window to see the golden sun, which was just beginning to rise above the horizon.
I threw my quilt off and went on a search for a matching pair of socks. As the floor boards creaked, I pulled on a pair of light brown socks, then opened my suitcase to pick out whatever today's outfit was going to be.
My pajamas were quickly switched out with a plaid, blue tank top, a pair of cut-off jeans, and my brown, leather boots. And since I braid my blonde hair every night before bed, I didn't bother messing with it before grabbing my black jacket and heading downstairs with my suitcase.
" Good mornin' aunty, " I greeted my aunt as I walked into the kitchen. " Good morning hun, " She replied, then took a sip of her coffee and returned to breakfast. " What's the plan for today? " I casually asked as I set a pan on the stove to heat up, and grabbed a couple eggs from the fridge.
" Well, " She began, " after breakfast, were gonna have to head to the airport to send you back home. " I nodded, " Sounds good. " Once the pan was hot enough, I cracked the eggs into it, and grabbed a plate while they cooked. As the edges turned brown, I grabbed a metal spatula, and carefully flipped them.
" Haha! " I congratulated myself, " I didn't even crack the yolk! " My aunt laughed and began to clean up her breakfast, " I gotta run to the store real quick, I expect you ready to go when I get back. "
" 'Course, aunty, " I agreed, and finished making my breakfast. As I sat down at the table and poured a glass of water, she left through the screen door, and I soon heard her car pull out of the driveway. My breakfast continued in silence, then I set the dishes and spatula in the dishwasher, and the pan in the sink.
While humming to myself, I grabbed a small bag from my suitcase and went to the bathroom. Setting the bag on the counter, I grabbed my face wash and mascara, and began my daily routine.
With a washcloth from under the sink, I soaked it with warm water and began gently scrubbing my face with the face wash. After my face was clean, I placed the washcloth in the laundry basket with the rest of the dirty towels, and unscrewed the mascara.
Carefully, I applied mascara to my top eyelashes, and left the bathroom with that simple touch up, since I didn't really wear makeup anyways. " You ready to go? " I heard my aunt call from the front door. I put the small bag in my suitcase, and brought it to the door and replied, " 'Course, now let's go. Don't wanna miss my plane. "
After tossing my suitcase in the trunk of my aunt's car, we buckled in, and headed to the airport. I was gonna miss my time in Panama City, but I could come back anytime, and right now I just wanted to go back home, to the farm.
Once we pulled into the parking lot, my aunt found a parking space, and escorted me to the building. " I sure am gonna miss you, " I said, as I pulled her into a hug. " I'll miss you too, " She replied and accepted my hug, " so make sure to come back soon. "
With a chuckle, I said, " You know, aunty, I don't think I should miss my plane. " My aunt took a step back, once she realized she'd been holding me for a few minutes, and released me from her hug, " Oh, right, my bad. " We smiled at each other, said goodbye, and then I went to the front counter to get my papers in order.
After the lady at the desk had helped me, I was on my way to the security check, and then I'd have a short wait before boarding the plane. As soon as security was done, I walked down the long hallway towards my gate number, and sat down in a seat near the windows.
Out the window, I saw a plane that I assumed was my ticket back home, and I was correct, as there was an announcement that stated we could now board the plane. A lady scanned my papers, then I walked down the long corridor that led to the plane, and I boarded.
Looking at my ticket, I searched the plane for my seat, and found it was a window seat near the back. As soon as I placed my suitcase in the overhead compartment, I sat down and buckled my seat belt. Soon after, two girls that looked around my age sat in the two seats on my right.
A voice then came from the surrounding speakers, " Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, we are preparing for takeoff in ten minutes, please make sure your seat belts are buckled, and your luggage is safely stored in the overhead compartments or under your seat, thank you. "
Flight attendants walked down the aisle, checking to make sure the overhead compartments were completely shut, and then proceeded to show the mandatory safety instructions, in case of any circumstance that the plane crashed.
The voice from the speakers came back, " Preparing to depart from Panama City, please buckle your seat belts and turn off all electronics, and we will take flight shortly, thank you. " A light overhead lit up, showing to buckle the belts, and everyone did so.
Soon after everyone had prepared to depart, the plane slowly began moving towards the runway. After a few minutes of aligning the plane to the long strip of asphalt, the plane began to move down the strip, faster and faster. Finally, the wheels began to lift, and we were soon flying in the clouds.
