Wet tears and warm rain fell onto my face as my vision continually went from blurry to clear. Suddenly, I heard his voice radiating through my brain and the pain finally stopped. Everything was numb and the only thing that I wanted to focus on was the crease of his mouth and the curls that were sticking to the sides of his acne-prone face.
“You are my sunshine…” That voice still sounded like ten thousand angels despite his sniffling and voice cracks. “My only sunshine.”
My cracked lips managed a small smile and I opened my eyes fully to achieve one last look of his green eyes.
“You make me happy when skies are grey.” Pressing his eyes closed and breathing heavily, he stared at my eyes and it was the last thing I saw. Everything faded to black and I knew he'd fight his way through this without me. I was ready.
