The floods were bad. There had been many plagues but this was the worst. There were only a few million miles of land that were not flooded. I remember waking up and seeing water rush into my room. I grabbed the small backpack I had packed and ran for it. My family was gone. They hadn't survived the second plague- drought.
"How convenient. Water." I thought rolling my eyes. I wanted to find a source of the water but I didn't have time because it was rushing in too quickly. I "stole" a canoe from a vacant neighboring house and took off down the street. It wasn't raining, and the flood gates were blocked with the corpses of those who hadn't survived the first few plagues. "My family is over there. And my friends " I thought but quickly shook it because I knew I didn't have time to be sad. I have to get out of here. I didn't exactly know where I was going but I decided to row to a nearby convenient store and buy some necessities. I tied my canoe to a gas pump and waded inside. I grabbed some cans of who knows what, a few waters, a coke, snacks, and chocolate because in all honesty I couldn't pass that up. I loaded my bag quickly and grabbed a large box of beef sticks and several lighters on the way out. There were only a few people outside, giving the bide that everyone else had given up. I couldn't. I had this feeling that God was somehow on my side. I paddled a few miles to some woods. I stopped and evaluated my options. I could either go up the hill, or down into the valley where I know the waters would end up. I decided to somehow get up the large hill. After three hours of navigating through trees and shrubs I reached the top. I got into my canoe and allowed myself to plummet down to the bottom of the hill. The tip of the canoe stuck into some dry ground and I went flying down to the bottom. Ouch. My left thumb was dislocated. I looked through my bag. How did I forget a first aid kit? I picked up my backpack and looked back at the canoe. I search the canoe for any usable parts. I cut some netting off of the foot rest and found a rope and a machetti in a compartment on the side. I packed them away tightly, taking the machetti in my hand. I hiked through a prairie and got to a beach where I set up my small tent and watch the sunset eating a beef stick. Once I had to move my tent back twice because of the tide I went to sleep.
