You walked down the street as the cold rain continued to pour. The only light was the soft glow from the street lamps. You and your boyfriend had been in another fight. This one got physical. He shoved you down. Sure he had yelled at you before, but he had never put his hands on you. You knew after that that it was the final straw. You had to get out. You couldn't allow yourself to stay in that house any longer.

There was only one person you could think of to go to. Braun. Braun was your best friend and the only person you wanted to see. He lived about a mile from you, but his house was the only place you could think of to go. You knew if anyone would give you a warm place to sleep in the middle of the night, it would be Braun.

You were in light pajama shorts and a tank top. You were freezing, and by this point, you were completely soaked, but all you could think about was getting to the warm safety of Braun's house.

You finally reached his house and made your way up the front steps before knocking on the door. It was almost midnight, and you felt bad for showing up out of the blue this late.

The door opened a few minutes later, revealing a confused looking Braun. He had on a pair of black sweatpants hanging low on his hips, and he didn't have a shirt on. You couldn't help but stare at his chest for just a second longer than you should have.

"Y/n? What are you doing here?" He asked as he stepped to the side so you could step inside and out of the rain. He closed the door and turned to look at you with worried eyes.

"I'm sorry to bother you-"

"You're not bothering me." He said in his deep voice.

"I left. I broke up with him."

"Why? I thought you liked him?"

"He pushed me." You sobbed out.

"What? That mother-....he put his hands on you? Did he hurt you?" Braun asked you couldn't help but noticed how his fists balled up as he scanned your body looking for any bruises or marks.

You shook your head and sniffled to keep some of the sobs from escaping. "N-no. He just shoved me back. I landed on the couch. I...I just can't believe-"

"You're not going back there. Ever. You hear me? You can stay here, and I'll help you find some place to go. He's never touching you again." Braun said.

"Braun, he didn't-"

"No. Don't defend him. Nobody puts their hands on you. And if they do, they have to face me!"

"I don't know what I'm gonna do, Braun. I don't have any clothes. I don't have anywhere to stay. Everything is at the house."

"Hey, c'mere. It's gonna be okay." He said as he pulled you into his chest and wrapped his arms around you. "You can stay here as long as you want. I'll go buy you clothes or go get your old ones if you want me to. I'm not afraid of the little punk." He said as he rubbed your back.

You leaned your head against his chest and enjoyed the feeling of his strong arms around you. You felt warm and safe and protected. You never want him to let go.

"C'mon. Let's get you upstairs and dried off." He said as he took your hand and led you upstairs. He grabbed a towel out of the linen closet in the bathroom and wrapped it around you.
