❛ Before you came 'round, my heart would never beat any faster. ❜
Often, I caught glimpses of a flickering light which didn't reside inside my own kitchen.
Supposedly, the new tenant of a09 which most children of the building called 'Ghost Room' but how I saw it, it was just another lonely and lifeless apartment, waiting for someone who would brighten it up.
Albeit, change doesn't doesn't happen in a day. It takes months, probably years for a resident and their house to find equity. Luckily, mine was fast.
One surprising evening, knowing I had to do the dishes after my roommate Jimin's week of chores, I stepped into the kitchen.
A first thing I did was look out the window and imagine a kind neighbour who would wave, smile and initiate short sweet chats.
I was so wrong.
He was a short-tempered little blonde that didn't bother to even say hello. Forget that, he didn't even look up from the sink and mindlessly strolled away.I had to make up my mind that the next time he comes at the window, I would attempt at talking to the estranged resident of a09 but when he came around, I waved and casually called out,
❝ So, how does your new apartment feel? D-Do you need any help unpacking—? ❞
My words are returned with a cold gaze and suddenly, my tiers curve shyly and I decide that I haven't given up.
There's always tomorrow.
Forgetting the abrupt end to that conversation, my hands pick each dish, washing it through and again before neatly placing it on the rack like how Jimin hyung taught me!
Drying my hands on a towel, my feet lead me ought the room as my eyes take one last sorrowful gaze at a failed spark of friendship.
Always tomorrow.
What if he's warmer tomorrow like the melting snow after a wave of spring's air?
He's in my mind like the broken remnants of a galaxy that drips into my dreams.
