Paper Boats

The breeze that blows by day,

And the gale that shatters the night

Have departed to lands far and away,

Leaving the world all alight.

No more lightless dusks and dawns

To fill the day with gloom.

No more lazy drawls and yawns,

And faded petals unwilling to bloom.

No more blasts to mess my hair

And blow my coat away.

Free from the clutches of the wintry air,

At last I find my way.

I walk away from nature's cages;

Away from the sodden coats,

Too lost to miss the forgotten ages;

The ages of the paper boats.
