Chapter 27: A job to 'Love!

"WHAT!?!"
"His bloodlust is strong and I fear that he'll give hunters a bad name. So I'd like someone to watch him closely."
"But why does it have to be me? Why do I have to babysit that damn clown!?"
"Well you are very strong and tough enough to handle it. Plus he seems to have taken a liking to you...are you two not together or even close?" He asked turning his head to the side.
"WHAT!?!? ME AND HIM?!?!? NO WAY!!! NEVER....NEVER WOULD I BE WITH THAT CREEP!!!" I yelled feeling my face turn red thinking back to the few kisses we shared.
"Well you have shared a few kisses with him right?"
"Th...that...well I had no choice on the trick tower....that was the only way out." I said looking down to hide my red face.
"Ok, well what about just a few minutes before I walked up?"
"Oh...that...um well...I...I mean he... I...I don't know. I thought he was going to kill me... I wasn't expecting a kiss...a soft kiss at that." I said bringing my hand up to my lips.
"And that's exactly why I am choosing you for this job. He had a chance to kill you and didn't. Like I said, it seems he has taken a liking to you. Will you do it?" He asked standing up.
"Alright I will." I said standing up as well.
"Good girl. Now you will get your hunters license when everyone else does. You really have already proven yourself as a true hunter. You are very deserving of the license but if you must work for it than just babysit Hisoka." He said opening his door.
"Come now, the fourth phase is about to end...I'm gonna need your help you can stay in your wolf form for it." He said walking out the door.
"Yes sir." I said turning into my wolf form, and it seems dad is still watching over me, even though he is not here and I said I could handle it myself he still made sure I was looked after.
Once everyone that completed the fourth phase was on the airship, we gave them some time to rest as I quickly located everybody else that were still on the island. I was happy to see Ponzu still alive and well, but she lost her tag. She can take it next year and I'm sure she'll get it then. I found all the living and non living within about 10 minutes...being a wolf on a small island makes locating people very easy and fast.
That was just part of what he wanted me to do, besides the babysitting bit. Next he told me that he planned to interview all the ones left and that he wanted me to be their escort to his office thing...in wolf form though. He didn't want them to thing I was getting special treatment or anything, I'm not real sure but I did as he said. So I stayed in wolf form and went to find the first person he wanted...which sadly was the damn clown. I found him and when he looked at me I turned and started walking...I figured he'd know to follow and he did...but he followed too close and then decided to grab my tail and pull on it a little.
"YOU BASTARD!! DON'T PULL MY TAIL!!" I yelled turning into my human form pinning him to the wall with a knife at his throat.
"Ah, I thought that was you my fruit...why so cold and harsh? You came to find me didn't you love?" He said smirking.
"I just came to escort you to the chairman's office. He wishes to talk to you and the other applicants that are left. So don't get the wrong idea. I don't care for you." I said putting my knife up.
"You work for him?"
"I wasn't when we started the exam." I said taking a step back.
"Please tell me more." He said grabbing my waist and pulling me closer.
"Hisoka what are you..." I tried to protest but was cut off by his lips on mine.
Damn him, why does he always do this!
"Damn it Hisoka!! Stop already! Keep your hands and lips to yourself and just follow me to his office." I said pushing him off me and turning and hurrying down the hall before the kiss went any further.
"Very well." He said chuckling.
He followed me to the chairman's office in silence but I could feel his gaze on my ass, maybe I should have turned back into my wolf form. I was so thankful once we made it there and went inside. I sat in the corner on this dog bed while they talked and once they finished and Hisoka left he made sure to wink at me.
"Do I really have to be the one that babysits him?" I asked walking over to the chairman as he was writing or drawing something.
"Yes, you're the only one who can get close enough to keep an eye on him."
"That's the issue though." I mumbled as I left to get the next person.
It all went smoothly, some knew to follow me other I had to tug on their sleeves. But all in all it was good and no one realized who I was, will except Hisoka obviously, Kurapika and Illumi who knew for a long time what I looked like in wolf form...I explained the situation to them and they understood. The only other person to realize it was me was Gon.
Gon recognized that it was me by my scent and my eyes. I told him that this was a secret and not to tell anyone, he agreed. I also told him that he really was similar to a wolf with the scent thing. The rest of the wall was him telling me how much he was enjoying the exam.
Now once everyone was finished being interviewed, I stayed by the chairman's side has he came up with the final phase, I actually just stayed in wolf form and took a nap in the dog bed. Once he finished he left to tell the others, I followed...they seemed suspicious of me but he said I was his new pet wolf he need for special jobs. He seems nice but he can be a cruel old man. They started arguing a little so I just took a nap. I feel like this will be the only time I can get any sleep once this exam is over. And I'm dreading my babysitting job...maybe I could just kill him...no Hisoka would enjoy it too much...ugh why me and why now with him....stupid old chairman.
