A lonely boy with neck long, messy white hair walked through what was left of his home.
Stepping over a beheaded corpse, he tried to make his way up the stairs. He begins to ascend into the second floor with slow, shaking steps. There are no sounds. Just silence that feels like it might jump at your throat.
At the end of the second floor corridor, where his father's room is, he finally stops walking. Sliding open the door, he shyly stepped in. He wasn't supposed to go here. But this was the only place where he knew to look. And true enough, he found a letter from his father.
"Sasuke.
I know I haven't been the best father, and I'm truly sorry. I haven't even told you why I was neglecting you. There should be no such reason, you're thinking. Well, you're right... You're my son after all. I should have raised you myself. But heed these next words well, for they are why I was away so long.
You, Sasuke, aren't a regular child. Not just because you were born into our Sanada clan. But because you are a Bender. You have magic within you. When it's time, someone will approach you and tell you more. But for now, know this. I have procured two items for you. The family sword, and a Symbolie which is required to control the magic I spoke of. Keep these two things safe, and remember what you have been taught. Someday, I believe you will restore our name.
I'm not a father that you should be proud of. But you are a son who I love with all my heart."
Sasuke crumpled up his father's letter, and sat on his father's chair. Resting his head on the table, he took a deep breath and finally began to cry.
"Sasuke...Sasuke!"
He rose in a comfortable, bright room. He slowly looked around, and took in the surroundings. The ceiling was high, everything was painted blue and decorated in wave patterns. There were about eight other beds in the room.
This was his room at Bendermio Academy. The school for Benders like himself. Being a Bender of Balance rather than a regular element, Sasuke had been given free choice of which house he joins, so he went into the House of Water, with his best friend. Michael Stones. Mike was a Water Bender, one hundred seventy something tall, with neck-length, shiny, raven black hair, ocean blue eyes (surprising no one) a slender build with average length, somewhat muscular arms and long legs. He was a looker, but also a bit of a nerd. Well, just a bit. He worked hard when it came to academics anyway.
Sasuke himself was a tiny bit taller than Mike, at 181 cm tall with snow white hair that just ever so lightly touched his shoulders at the sides. He had grass green eyes, a slightly pointy nose, a soft but still sharpish face and an overall pretty thin, even if visibly muscular body. Sasuke was what you'd call a prodigy. Without having to put in his maximal effort, he had very good grades in school. He devoted himself to learning his powers and martial arts rather than academics.
"M-morning..." Sasuke mumbled, still not fully awake.
"Morning, Sasuke. Sleep well?" Mike smiled warmly at him from the other bed. Sasuke nodded, but explained to Mike about the nightmare. Mike nodded and looked away a bit grimly. "You should really see the headmaster about those nightmares, Sasuke. You've been having more than you're telling me, right?" Mike looked at him with sincere worry. Sasuke just smiled weakly.
"Right. But I need to be able to stand by myself as well, if I'm going to be worth this name, these eyes and these powers," said Sasuke, referring to the name of the Sanada, a power that everyone in his family had, not just the benders (one which resides in the eyes) and his powers as a bender of Balance.
His resolve was made. He'd restore the Sanada. He'd bring back the shine in that name. Make people fear their might as they once did.
