Emi Pov

Once Cleo and I got home, I told him to sit down on the couch as I stood across from him. I was going to have a serious conversation with this buddy.

"So Cleo, what exactly were you doing with that girl?" I asked.

"I just said, I was helping her look for her pencil!" Cleo said. I raised an eyebrow.

"Then tell me...exactly why she had a bunch of bruises on her?" I asked. I saw Cleo slightly flinch.

"She...hit herself while looking under her desk!" He said.

"Ouch...that must of hurt." I said. Cleo's face lit up.

"I mean, it doesn't really matter, she's just a h-" I raised my eyebrow once more. "I-I mean, she's really strong, so it doesn't really matter if she got hurt because she can heal pretty fast!"

"You know...you seem to know a lot about this girl. Say...is she your...girlfriend?!" I asked, smirking. Cleo stood up, red with anger.

"No!!! Why would I date a human like her?! Ick!!!" Cleo said. A second later he realized what he said and clamped his hands across his mouth. "...you heard nothing."

"I heard you very clearly mister." I said, putting my hands of my hips. Cleo groaned.

"I mean, don't you think so too? Humans are disgusting!" He said. Right...he doesn't know I'm a human. I sighed as I sat next to Cleo.

"What did you do to Caroline?" I asked.

"I...I...um..."

"I promise I won't get mad at you, just tell me what you did." I said.

"Well you see...when I first went to school, I felt sorry for Caroline because she was getting beat up because she was a human. So I protected her. But then I realized that if I did that, I started getting beat up too. Then I thought that maybe if I act like all of the others, then I might not get beat up anymore...and I was right. People started acting nice towards me when I beat Caroline up and called her a stupid human. I made a lot of friends." Cleo said.

"Cleo...that was a very stubborn choice you made."

"Huh?"

"Don't get me wrong, I'd hate to see you get hurt. I would protect you with all of my might if I knew people were beating you up. But you can't just escape like that and leave Caroline alone."

"......"

"You only escaped for yourself. All you did was cause more pain to her. Your choice was a benefit for no one...only you." I said.

"...I want to tell Caroline that I'm sorry, but I don't know how to." Cleo said, looking down. "How should I apologize?"

"I'm not helping you."

"Huh?!"

"If you got yourself into this mess, then you have to squeeze yourself out of it. Do you understand?" I asked.

"Okay Emi." Cleo said. "Do you think Caroline will still want to be my friend?"

"I don't know Cleo, but I'll tell you this; losing someone's trust is much easier than earning it." I said.

"Are you mad at me?"

"No, I'm not. But I am very disappointed of you. Go to your room to think about what you've done. Maybe do your homework while you're in there." I said. Cleo sadly nodded and walked over to his room. I sighed.

He needs his time to think this through.
