It was mundane day, I was sitting at my desk in class leaving my thoughts to wonder. I was not thinking anythung but I was only staring at the blank space. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the whiteboard. Apparently, we were learning Maths but I did not give much thought of it.

"RIIIINNNNNGG!" The school bell rang, everyone was jumping with joy. I realised it was school break. A whole week with no school. I asked my friends what their plans were for the holidays. Some said going back to their hometown, most said nothing but all of them said "I don't know". My good friend; Normand suggested that we should go camping. I thought it would be fun. Haikal and Leonard agreed to that plan but Neal thought it would be a drag. We persuaded and in the same insulted him to come along. In the end, the five of us agreed to go camping near Lake Ulu on Monday.

Everything else was mundane, discussed what we are contribution to the 'pile'. I was incharged of food, Haikal with tents, Normand bought the utensils, Leonard is incharged of reserving the place and Neal was incharged of anything that seems easy for him. On Sunday, Leonard inform the group that the reservations is set. We agreed to meet at 7am near Lake Ulu. That Monday, I woke up late because I spent the night watching a new Netflix series called The Magicians but luckily when I arrived everyone had already done their separate duties. The tents were set, the pit for the campfire  is dug and everyone was only waiting for me. I placed my bag into one of the tents and noticed that there was a bow and a pile of arrows. I asked them why had they brought it and Leonard answer the local residents gave it to us as protection because there are wild animals around. We started the day with some jungle trekking. It was grueling hot and long but in a way it was awesome. Something was not right, we stumbled across a fawn that was ravage by an animal but the weird thing is the carcass was still there.

We returned back to the campsite hours later. It was like somebody messed up our camp. Our rugsacks were all stattered around the site. The tent were all down. We though an anima had wondered into the campsite but nothing was missing except for the bows and arrows. Everyone did not notice except for me. I was only one thinking about it. Straight-forward to night time, I was sitting at the camp fire singing along with my friends like a bunch of drunktard. Next thing, I realised I woke up in the tent with an excruciating headache, I heard a scream but it was not normal. It was a woman's voice! I ran oht of the camp and saw that Neal was lying face down in a pool of blood. Arrows were lodge into his back. I heard another feminine scream but it was Leonard, I ran to him as fast as I could. Leonard was climbing a tree trying to run from something. I saw at the bottom of the tree was a woman. She was floating! The woman put her hand out and an unknown force pull Leonard down into a wooden spike that was so happens to be below him, thrusting through his abdomen. It was a nasty sight.

I was in shock, I did not know what to do, I couldn't move even if I wanted to, Haikal came out of nowhere.

"We've got to run" he said to me in a panicking tone with wide eyes and a face thats pale even for him. He pulled my hand and we both started running. Haikal explained to me what happened as he also awoke in the tent but much later than me. We stopped near a tree to catch our breath. I saw people in hooded robes with bows chasing after us. They were shooting arrows. I warned Haikal but it was too late as I was shot in the leg before we could start running. Haikal left me at the tree to bleed out. I saw hooded figures chasing after him instead of me. I slowly tried to drag myself into a sitting position, leaning on the tree. Haikal ran for awhile but later he was shot in the leg and tripped on what I assume is a rock because my vision was fading. I heard one of the hooded figures say in our native language that Haikal broke his neck and it was a waste. Soon, I was surrounded by hooded figures but everything went black before I could do anything.

I was walking in the dark. It seems like endless. I was surrounded by plants. When I got closer I realise that it was corn. After walking what feels like forever I gave up and lie down on the ground. The moon was shinning bright. You can even see all the stars in the sky. Then I heard a little girl's giggle. I put my head up so fast. She was gesturing me to follow her. I am reluctant but I have no where else to go. I felt sightly uneasy following her through the cornfield. Soon, I came up

I woke up as I was thrown in the dirt. The arrow was still in my leg. I readjusted myself into a sitting position and I realised that I was sitting in the middle of a circle. I was surrounded by eight hooded figures holding a lighted candle each. The leader walked up to me but before he could say anything I told him to go to hell but he reveals himself to be Normand. Normand started to tell me about some sort of ritual. It so happens that their 'cult' is devoted to a dead goddess; Selyne and every few years she would come back and cause terror in the town. It was their duty to give a sacrifice to the goddess to keep her at bay. He told me that the woman who killed Leonard was her. They saw everything that happened but chose to not interfere. I had the great 'honor' to sacrifice my life to Selyne as it was a sign of eternal devotion. I found myself tied to the stake unable to move like an animal. As the stake was on fire, I felt the flames burning my flesh. The feeling of having your body melt like it was ice. My organs being cooked. I never expected it to end like this.
