Lucy's Pov
Things had not gone according to plan.
Now I say this a lot. More then is probably healthy but here I am again, in a potential life or death situation because of, you guessed it, Anthony Lockwood. If we get out of here remind me to kill him.
Now to be clear I was against this plan, but it was the only one we had. Now we're being shot at by Winkman's flunkies in a warehouse on the outskirts of London. What glamorous lives we lead.
Holly looked pretty as ever darting through the shadows, hurtling flares, and salt bombs at whomever dared cross her, George, with his rump in the air, was hurtling ghost-bombs, Kipps was going to work on several goons with some rather flashy swordplay, and me? I was alongside Kipps slashing, feinting, dodging, doing my best to get past the morons in front of me to get to where Lockwood had been dragged up the stairs to the roof.
Kipps slashed at one man's wrist and stabbed and other in the gut sending them both reeling.
"There's your chance Carlyle! Find him and give him a good smack 'round the head!" I shot Kipps a Carlyle grin before darting past and racing up the stairs, taking them three at a time. I burst out of the metal doors in front of me skidding to a stop on the roof. Marissa was there.
"Hello Lucy dear." She spoke softly, kindly. I almost would have trusted her if it wasn't for the fact my boss was on the ground beside her, staring at me in wide-eyed horror. Lockwood made a muffled noise of distress, moving to try to get to me. Marissa hit him once, hard on the spine. Lockwood yelped and twisted to get away. He was bleeding. She had hurt him, badly.
I saw red.
"Let him go Marissa." I said softly squaring up to her. "Let him go, so we can finish this once and for all." My grip on my rapier was form, and I blinked away the blood that was beginning to cloud the left side of my vision.
"Lucy please." Lockwood rasped. "Please. Run. Run while you can." His blood stained to concrete around him. I could see the Thames in the distance., moonlight sparkling across the the reflective surface of the water. Tonight this would end. One way or another.
