Waking up was easy for Elizabeth. She figured it was all a bad nightmare, that was until she looked around the room. She was in a hospital room, connected to a heart monitor and an IV shot, that pinched her elbow crease as she sat up. The only form of color was the many roses that sat from the edge of the bed, to the right side of her towards the window. "How long was I in here?" Her voice cracked. A nurse walked in and smiled kindly at Elizabeth, who seemed all too confused. "Hello Elizabeth, I'm your nurse, Kiera. How are we feeling? It's definitely been quite a ride for you." Elizabeth rubbed her sleepy eyes, "Fine I guess..umm do you know where my sister is?" The nurse started to wash her hands in the sink next to the bathroom, "She'd be downstairs right now, do you want me to call her over?" Elizabeth was afraid now, "Is she hurt? Why is she here in the hospital too?" The nurse looked at her oddly for a second, but figured out the problem , "I almost forgot, you don't know where you are do you?" What could this person be talking about, thought Elizabeth. Kiera smiled and walked over to the window side of the room, being careful not to ruin the flowers. She opened the curtain to reveal a fancy window that overlooked the entrance of the estate. It was nothing like she's seen before, a row of mansions that made a path down toward a large gate, and not far from each place, the ocean with soft afternoon skies and purple waves. Elizabeth gasped in awe, "this isn't a hospital is it?" Kiera chuckled and pulled open a drawer taking out a pair of gloves, "Now, let's take off those annoying contraptions.." Kiera took off the stickers from Elizabeth's body carefully and the IV shot that left a small bruise. Then put a bandaid over the small indent it made, "Kiera? How long was I sleeping for?" Kiera walked over toward Elizabeth handing her something that looked like it came from the dry cleaners, "Put these on, oh um.. let's see, about four and a half months." Elizabeth looked at Keira incredulously and replied taken back, "That's not possible, I remember what happened, I only fell because my sister was crying and my mom-" Elizabeth stopped all at once, how could she forget? This has to be only a dream, this is not real whatsoever. She ran passed Kiera who shouted for her to return, but Elizabeth only found herself racing down a flight of stairs and into some type of backyard. It was a maze full of roses and large shrubs, she felt like Alice in wonderland, trying to find her way back home, but in her case the way out of this dream. She stopped at a dead end and sat down with her knees against her chest still very much afraid. She cried softly and felt alone, 'why am I here? What if I'm already dead?' She thought. At this point she was unknowingly naked with only a hospital gown to cover the frontal area of her body. Warm hands grasped firmly at her own hands to reveal who seemed so keen on seeing Elizabeth in terror. It was a boy and he was yelling for someone to come over, and as soon as the figure came out of the shadows, it revealed none other than Elizabeth's sister, Sophie. At this moment things became a lot clearer. "I've got this, thanks Bellamy," said Sophie who held one of Elizabeth's hands. Bellamy, someone who is strange towards Elizabeth, looks into her almost grey eyes and as she looks into his green eyes, he rubs her left hand in comfort, "You're going to be okay trust me. It's really Sophie and not a dream, please understand." He let's go and stands tall, "Well I'll be on my way miss Vin'Del, call me over if anything else happens.." she nods and he looks over at Elizabeth, "I hope you weren't too frightened of me," Bellamy looks down and makes his way out of the maze with ease. Elizabeth, looks at Sophie now with joyful tears as they both reunite with a hug, "A lot happened while you were asleep. Did you know we had a really rich dad?" Elizabeth shook her head and realized how crazy she might have looked running into the maze, "I wish I was warned before I ran naked into a maze," Elizabeth weakly joked. They both snorted and laughed while making their way back into the mansion. "Did I miss mom's funeral?" Sophie stayed quiet for a while and then replied, "She would have understood." Sophie walked slowly now knowing that Elizabeth had to return to the hospital room. "So, you look really fancy compared to what we looked like months ago," Elizabeth said noticing Sophie's evening dress which was a light blue that matched her eyes, and was long sleeved. Sophie looked down and remembered something, "Oh yeah, our 'father' wanted to celebrate his job accomplishments with a end of the year party...Elizabeth you should come it's in the main hall downstairs, you could use the fresh atmosphere and it would really surprise him." She said enthusiastically. Elizabeth looked down the hall toward the hospital room and then looked back at her sister who, with eager anticipation, crossed her fingers. "alright then, but how can I sneak past the nurse?" Elizabeth never wanted to get in trouble, even if it was to save her own life. "It's a masquerade, when father announces his speech you take off your mask and the crowd won't even notice," Sophie cared more for ruining her fathers perfect party than any chance of being caught. Her father never called when they were younger, or remembered birthdays, or was ever seen crying after their mothers death. For this, Sophie only resented the fact of having to live in his stupid mansion with his stupid perfect family, and having to obey by his stupid rules. His planning on this party stressed him more than his job itself, Elizabeth suddenly appearing would go great with the mix of other pranks Sophie had in mind tonight. "Sophie!" Elizabeth shouted," shhh come in my room, hold on." Sophie whispered and dragged Elizabeth into one of the first rooms. After shutting the door and flicking on the lights, Elizabeth stood in shock, the room was as big as their old apartment and had a king sized bed as well. "What did you say again sorry?" Elizabeth sat on her bed while Sophie shuffled in the walk-in closet, "oh, just that why didn't you have on a mask?" Elizabeth laid back on the bed and stared at the painted ceiling of a mermaid swimming underwater. "Because I'm defying all things unholy." Elizabeth never cared for expensive things, but for today it was an exception. "Here! This would look great on you," Sophie smiled handing Elizabeth a lavender silky dress with no sleeves and matching matte heels. Elizabeth held the dress in awe, "isn't this too much for a work party?" Elizabeth looked down at the dress, "Trust me it'll suit you and nothing's to much for rich people," Sophie started on Elizabeth's makeup, "It won't fit me but since your turning eighteen soon I thought you would like to have it as an early birthday gift." Elizabeth said thank you and smiled at the dress. Sophie finished up makeup and moved onto hair, until finally she was ready. This party was going to the most interesting moment out of the whole time she lived here, Sophie thought.
