I don't know how long that talk that they had took.

It felt like ages.

One of my issues was that I had zero patience.

Fuck waiting.

The library was quiet though, nice.

The many shelves lined with rows after rows of books soothed me.

I remember going to the city library back home, the smell of the pages, the quiet whispers of the readers.

I breathed a sigh of joy at the one memory from my old life that didn't feel like a punch in the gut.

I sharp vibrate from my pocket jolted me unexpectedly.

It was Hunter.

"Hi, I'm in the library. What's up?" I whispered.

"Oh ok, I can call you back later if you want?" He mumbled.

"No, it's okay. I'll just go somewhere further away from people."

I awkwardly tucked myself into the space between two bookcases.

"Um, why did you ask that question?" He quizzed.

"Because Alex told me to ask it. Do you?"

"Wait, hold up. Why are you talking to Alex?"

"He sits next to me in class."

Why does he need to know?

"Don't talk to him, he's dangerous."

My inner self was kind of agreeing with him, but......

"Don't tell me what to do. Besides, you are avoiding the question."

"If he finally managed to fuck up bad enough, then I wouldn't be sorry."

His tone was snappy, sharp.

"And if it was allowed, and I was able to, I would be very glad to assist in his own demise."

Holy shit!

"Are you serious?!" I whisper-yelled.

"He has done some bad shit Scarlett. It's difficult to explain......"

"Try, I'm sick and tired of people not explaining things. It's getting really annoying." I grumbled out.

"It's......complicated. I'm not really at liberty to say."

"That's bullshit." I was getting really frustrated.

"Look, I know that you're annoyed. But I really can't tell you right now. I've got to go. I'm sorry."

He hung up.

I sat there in disgruntled silence for a while, before I looked up.

And almost had a heart attack.

Alex was stood there looking amused.

"Don't you know it's rude to sneak up on people? And it's rude to keep a lady waiting? It's also very rude to eavesdrop."

My tone was still harsh, I felt a little regretful at that.

"One," he began counting on his fingers. "I didn't sneak up on you. You just happen to be exceptionally unobservant."

I huffed indignantly.

"Two, I kept you waiting for only seven minutes."

"Still too long." I smirked.
