I could hear the crowd cheering from my dressing room. I knew that Evana Hancock would be hard to out cheer, but I sure would try. As the crowd died down, I could hear the announcer as I was walking towards the stage.
"Are you ready?" asked Gemma. She was doing last minute fixes to my hair, placing my blonde curls in just the right spots.
"I'm as ready as I'll every be," I replied. I took a deep breath, counting to five.
Gemma picked up my microphone. "I know you can get a bigger response from the audience than Evana. You are a much better singer." She clipped the battery on my pocket and laid my sweater over it. Then, she hooked the mic over my ear. "Good luck!" she said, handing me my guitar. I gave her a smile and walked onstage.
"And now welcome the talented Teddy Lynch!" he said.
