Chapter 1

Hands collided with my shoulders and I dropped the the schools floor with a thump. A chorus of laughter sounded throughout the classroom and tears welled to my eyes. I wiped them away with a closed fist, hoping no one saw. The laughter boomed louder. I looked up through my lashes at Daniel, the boy who pushed me.

The clacking of the teachers heels approaching the door made the laughter ceased and everyone rush to their seats leaving me on the floor. “Shela, what are you doing on the floor?” I looked up at her with blurry eyes, not making a move to speak. Just as I opened my mouth to give some lie of a reason to why I was sprawled out on the floor, Carissa answered for me, smirk clear in her voice.

“I just dropped my scissors, Mrs. Lee. Shela was so very kind as to pick them up for me.” While she spoke, she threw her scissors under her desk and into my lap. Mrs. Lee smiled at me and walked back out of the classroom without another word all I could hear was her heels going ‘Clack clack clack’.Snickering immediately began around the classroom.

I looked down at the scissors in my lap and before latching them into my hand and taking off out of the classroom and down the hall, the laughter haunting me from behind.

I burst into the bathroom and quickly threw the scissors in the sink, ducking to check all the stalls. I ran back to the heavy wooden door and bolted it securely before slowly walking back to the sinks and counters.

I picked up the scissors and looked at the shining blades carefully, trying to keep the tears from overflowing my bottom lids. I armed the scissors in my hands and picked up a chunk of hair.

I cut it off.

I cut more and more, anger surfacing my weak, emotional barrier. More and more I cut, the more I felt calm. Once I was done, I went through and fixed a few pieces of my hair to make it look like I hadn’t hacked it off like I had just done. It was definitely different, I knew that much. But something about it signalled something in me. Maybe it signalled that I could handle this, or maybe it signalled the change that was happening throughout me.

Either way, I was happy.

“Ha! Look everybody, Shela cut her hair!” Carissa hollered while the class was roaring with laughter when they saw me. If I was changing, I might as well begin now. I walked right up to her and looked at her in the eyes and then I punched her straight in the nose. I flicked my hand back to me and rubbed my sore red knuckles. She screamed with pain and soon blood was gushing from her nose into her hands that enclose her nose I knew that it would be an extremely deformed piece of her body. ”Ya, thats what I thought,” I said, with a smirk forming on my face I could feel everyone’s stares. That’s when I noticed the teacher standing there. Unfortunately, I could care less.

”Shela Ben-” she screamed before I interrupted her.

”I know I know to the damn principal's office,” I responded boredly, I headed down the hallway rubbing my almost swollen knuckles. I slowly made my way down to the principal's office and stopped right in front of his door. I took a great big breath and walked in.

“Well hello there, Miss Bensen, just the girl I needed to see,” the principal said with his accent and an overjoyed smile. I could see him go to question my new lack of hair but he thought better of it.

“Um, why are you happy? I just punched a girl in the face and broke her freaking nose. Or did you not get the memo?” I asked with a confused look before smirk came upon my face when I remembered my fist slamming into that ugly Plastic face.

“Sadly yes I am aware of what you did to Carissa but your father called and said for you to pack all your school stuff. He’s coming to pick you up right now.” He said with a smile. When he said that I was so happy me and my dad live together ever since my mom had died from a car accident. When I turned around my dad was right there he had dark green eyes, and he was 6 foot 3 ,and he was wearing some ripped jeans he and a plaid shirt and his pumas.
