Chapter 3:
*Quinn's POV*
"Well then, 'Just the Doctor' is there a point to your travels? Or are you just the time traveler with no name?" I asked. The Doctor looked shocked. "A point? There's only ever one point to traveling. I want to see the universe! All the years I've been traveling and I don't think I've even seen half of what the universe has to offer." he said.
"Wait, the whole universe? You mean this ship can go anywhere? What about hostile planets? Or ones that are too dangerous to land on?" I asked. Instead of answering, he replied with his own question, "Are you saying you believe in aliens?" Normally when I tell people that I believe in aliens, they laugh and call me insane.
"Yes. I do believe in aliens, and no matter how much people tell me they're not real, they can't convince me." I crossed my arms and waited for The Doctor to say how 'aliens aren't real' or 'Quinn, you're absolutely insane'. He didn't reply right away and the room was quiet before he spoke up, "Quinn, you're absolutely right. Aliens are real. There are more species out there than you could possibly imagine." That was probably the last thing I expected to hear. "Can you confirm that Doctor?" I asked.
Before he could answer, a very loud crash could be heard from outside. We both ran outside to see what was happening. There was a loud scream and I ran towards the sound. Someone had crashed their car into a building. A young women got out of the car seemingly unharmed but completely terrified looking.
She was ranting incoherently and close to sobs. "Miss are you alright?" I asked her, "Are you hurt?" She started to breathe more slowly and began to calm down but was still not making any sense whatsoever. Next thing I knew, the Doctor was standing next to me asking questions, "How did you crash? Can you tell us what happened?"
The woman took a deep breath to calm herself down. "No no. I must have been seeing things. I must have been seeing things..." She was staring vacantly down the street she had just come from. "Please, just tell us what you thought you saw." I said. The Doctor seemed to be getting more anxious, like he'd been waiting for something to happen. "Please, it could be important." he said.
The woman nodded and continued, "Alright. I was on my way to work like normal. I couldn't see much because of the rain so when I did see it, I just thought it was a person. A person standing in the middle of the road. I braked right before I would've hit it. It was just standing there but when I stopped the car it turned to face me. It looked like some kind of metal robot! I thought it could be some teenager in a costume and I waited for them to move. I was about to just drive around it and it started firing some sort of laser-gun thing at my car! Oh God, it was terrifying! I panicked and drove around it and she I looked in my mirror there was half a dozen of them following me! I couldn't look away from them and that was when I crashed. I must be insane. Metal men!"
She immediately began sobbing again. Normally I would dismiss her story as an intriguing hallucination but after meeting a time traveller with a physics-defying spaceship, my perspective was just a little wider. I looked at the Doctor who had a very concerned expression on his face. Without any apparent reason, he just walked away looking particularly upset.
I turned back to the crying woman, "Look maybe you should just find a ride home. I'm sure you're okay." I turned around just in time to see the Doctor go back into the Tardis. I hurried to catch up before I could get left behind.
